Couldn't help yourself putting a few cardinals in there where they don't belong eh?

No wainwright whatsoever. and there's many that could make a case for hollidays spot on your list.

Looks pretty good. Without looking too much into it the two changes I'd have would be Kipnis over Zobrist and Cliff Lee over Strasburg.

I see our Cardinals homer hasn't let up at all.

Other than Holliday, I don't see the problem. Molina is clearly 1 or 2. Carpenter had 7 WAR last year. Waino has averaged 5.2 fWAR over the last 4 seasons, over 6 last year.

Why not Waino? 6.2 WAR last year, 5.2 per over his last 4 seasons.

Their performances over the last three years show they belong (minus Carpenter who was a top 10 player in baseball last year).

Who do you believe belongs instead?

Hell I put Posey over Molina, and Molina was clearly better last year

Matt Carpenter was top 10 in all of baseball last year, and had he played third base, he would have turned in the best season other than Miguel Cabrera (who is now at first).

Wainwright is clearly a top 5 starter, and Holliday has been one of the most consistent left fielders in the game for over 5 years, and each year is top 3 from the position.

Would love to see your rankings though. Easy to call someone a homer when you don't provide your own rankings, but at least the numbers back up my choices.

    To back myself up:

Last year, Matt Holliday was third in fWAR among left fielders, and second in offensive production (wRC+, wOBA, wRC) among all left fielders.....first place? Mike Trout who is now a center fielder.

Over the last four seasons, Matt Holliday has the best WAR among all left fielders, production coming each season.

Molina is number one among catcher WAR since 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and was the top offensive catcher and the top defensive catcher in baseball last season (again)....and I still put him behind Posey.

Matt Carpenter's 7.0 fWAR, would have placed second among third basemen to Josh Donaldson, whose projections show him to have a stronger regression going forward, and each were equal offensively, except Carpenter played more.

And Wainwright has been top 5 as a pitcher the last two seasons, and was prior to his TJ injury in 2011.

    STEAMER projections for 2014
    fWAR ranks
    Wainwright - 5th among starters
Carpenter - 6th among third basemen (very close to those ahead of him)
Holliday - 1st among left fielders
    Molina - 2nd among catchers

    ZIPS projections for 2014
    fWAR ranks
Wainwright - 8th (Tanaka is fourth for some reason)
Carpenter - 7th among third basemen
Holliday - 4th among left fielders
    Molina - 2nd among catchers

    OLIVER projections for 2014
    fWAR ranks
    Wainwright - rankings not available
    Carpenter - 3rd (0.2 WAR from first)
    Holliday - 4th
    Molina - 5th

Beltre over Carpenter and I think EE and Goldie are interchangeable, I also wouldn't have Darvish in the top 5 yet.

Btw even though they asked him to move to centerfield earlier in the offseason it looks like they are keeping Cargo at left after all. But it might depend on some other ST battles

I pretty much agree with most of your picks. I probably put Kipnis on over Zobrist. I MIGHT put Yadi over Posey but I could easily go with yours. Darvish would be 5th or 6th in my head with Verlander being 5th or 6th too. LF is a bugger. Not sure I can bring myself to put Braun 1st. I would probably put Cargo there but will admit my hatred for Braun may be clouding my judgment. I may put Beltre on over Carpenter simply because of his track record but I can't argue against Carpenter. A big part of me wants to replace Bautista with Stanton or Bruce.

    Overall.....pretty good list as is.
