Mock Offseason CHAMPIONSHIP: (4) AB1984 vs (4) GeorgiaBear

Restructure 10.5 mil of Cutlers base salary, saves 8.4 mil this yr, increasing cap hit 1.5 mil for duration of contract

    Resign:
Wootton (3 yr 14 mil, 4m signing bonus, 1 mil base salary this yr, 2.33m cap hit)
Tillman (2 yr 6 mil, 2.5 mil cap hit this yr, 2.5 mil guaranteed)
McCown (2 yr 4 mil, 2 mil cap hit)
Ratliff (2 yr 4.5 mil, 1.5 mil this yr guaranteed)
    Garza (1 yr 1.2 mil)
    Collins (1 yr 1 mil)
    Williams (1 yr 1 mil)
    Bowman (1 yr 1 mil)
    Mannelly (1 yr 955k)
    Britton (1 yr 730k)
    Steltz ( 1 yr 730k)
    Boggs 1 yr 495k)

At this point we would have 39 players under contract that I have on my final roster at a total of almost exactly 100 million. Leaving 26.3 mil remaining.

    Free Agency:
Byrd (5 yr 45 mil, 8 mil cap hit)
Tuck (3 yr 18 mil, 5.5 mil cap hit)
Griffen (3 yr 14 mil, 4 mil cap hit)
    Ben Hartsock (1 yr 955k)
    Josh Morgan (1 yr 955k)
    Jonathon Dwyer (1 yr 800k)

Byrd is the type of impact player that I feel you have to go after when it's a position of need. Tuck is an all-around DE that we need, 12 sacks and 8th best run defense grade per PFF. He is on the wrong side of 30 but that is also why he should come at a decent price. Griffen is a guy I really hope we go after, a lot of upside as a pass rusher. I believe in depth on the D line and Tuck, Griffen, Wootten, with some young guys behind them is a nice rotation IMO. Hartsock is a blocking TE that we could use. Morgan fell out of favor in Washington last year and didn't have a very productive season. I think he provides solid depth in case of injury or if Wilson isn't as ready as people hope. Dwyer provides depth and can possibly take some of the load of Forte.

Total 20.2 mil, 6.1 mil remaining with 45 players under contract

    Draft:
    Rd 1-Louis Nix
    Rd 2-Deone Buchanon
    Rd 3-Shayne Skov
    Rd 4-Pierre Desir
    Rd 5-Aaron Lynch
    Rd 6-Colt Lyerla
    Rd 6-Dri Archer
    UDFA-Avery Patterson

With a solid rotation of DE's and Paea, Ratliff, Collins all able to play 3T I think Nix fits in perfectly to eat space and collapse the pocket. Buchanon should be able to step into a good situation next to a pro bowl safety and succeed. Skov I have behind DJ williams but I think he could play the middle pretty quickly if needed. Desir has some upside and would be in a good situation with Tillman back and a chance to learn. Lynch and Lyerla have the upside I look for in the late rounds. Archer could make a big impact as a returner and possibly on offense too. Patterson I like, a bit of an undersized safety but we need to refresh our depth at the position and hopefully could make an impact on special teams.

Draft costs 5.8 mil including Patterson putting us at 126 mil for 53 players so with the top 51 going towards the cap we would have about 1.1 mil left.

    QB-Cutler, McCown
    RB-Forte, Dwyer, Ford
    FB-Fiametta
    WR-Marshall, Jeffery, Wilson, Morgan, Archer
    TE-Bennett, Hartsock, Lyerla, Onobun
    LT-Bushrod
    LG-Slauson
    C-Garza, Boggs
    RG-Long, Brown
    RT-Mills, Britton

Not a ton of change here with all starters returning. Cutler should improve with another offseason in the offense. Overall should see improvement across the board.

    DE-Tuck, Wootton, Washington
    NT-Nix, Collins
    3T-Paea, Ratliff
    DE-Griffen, Bass, Lynch
    SLB-Bostic, McClellin
    MLB-Williams, Skov
    WLB-Briggs, Greene, Franklin
    CB-Tillman, Bowman, Desir
    FS-Byrd, Conte, Patterson
    SS-Buchanon, Steltz
    CB-Jennings, Frey

Strong depth on the D line with guys that stop the run and rush the passer. Good mix of vets and young guys at LB, athletic group overall that should make plays behind the revamped line.
In the secondary we would be surrounding a high upside rookie with a combined 5 pro bowls in the last 2 years.

Although I don't like trading away so many picks, I do like the versatility G Bear's mock brings.

It really isn't. 4 of the votes against GB are just ****ing with him. GB should win this by a mile. His mock IMO is the most realistic in terms of overall results. I don't know that it's my favorite necessarily, but it's the one that I has the most "huh...this could actually happen" response when reading.

Lol, my wifi is down for some reason so I can't see the poll/vote for myself. If I win this I'm going to have a trophy made to put on the mantle next to my 4th place bowling trophy from a class field trip in 3rd grade.

If it stays this close then I'll vote at the end (have avoided doing so in any of these so far), so GB & AB...you two are free to woo me any time you'd like.

Semantics aren't too important in a vote. 7-6 is 7-6.

I don't think you know what semantics means.
