    Expansion Draft Rules/Players

    2014 NHL Expansion Draft

Here were the rules to player eligibility:

    -Teams were allowed to protect:
1 goaltender, 5 defensemen, and 9 forwards or 2 goaltenders, 3 defensemen, and 7 forwards.
-For teams protecting only one goaltender, there was no experience requirement for those left unprotected.
-For teams protecting two goaltenders, each goaltender left unprotected must have appeared in either 10 NHL games in the 2012-2013 season or 25 games in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons combined. A goaltender had to be in net for at least 31 minutes in each game for the game to be counted against these totals.
-At least one defenseman left unprotected by each team had to have appeared in at least 30 games in the 2012-2013 season or 60 games in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 seasons combined. At least two forwards left unprotected by each team had to have met the same requirements.
-I didnít include players that I think will retire (example: Selanne).
-To make this easier, I used the rosters indicated on nhlnumbers.com. A little switch from the 2000 rules is that any player that has had 9 or more games in the NHL has to be protected. Prospects are off limits for the most part. Best advice is: just go by the list!
-If I missed anybody, please ask me about their eligibility before drafting. I will get back to you. Thanks for helping out as well!

Rules to the draft/building the team:

-26 selections + Entry draft pick
-Only 1 goaltender or 1 defenseman can be selected from each franchise.
-You have to use your first 24 selections on three goaltenders, eight defensemen, and thirteen forwards. Last two picks can be any position.
-Seattle gets the #3 pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Kansas City gets #4. We are assuming Reinhart and Ekblad have been taken already in the draft. Itís up to you to draft a player and decide whether you will insert him into the lineup for the upcoming season.
-Who picks first/team selection will be decided by a coin toss. If you win the toss, you will have the choice to either take the team you want or to pick first in the Expansion Draft.
-Just like the 2000 draft, you can draft players that have UFA/RFA status. It will be indicated. In which case, I will determine a cap number for these players. Keep in mind these players may not want to sign with your team (mostly UFAs) if you draft them. Be smart about this.
-We will be doing this via chatzy. I will be moderating the draft while two GMs go at it.
-After the draft, you are to submit your lineups to me via PM and I will post them on the NHL forums without identification to get some voting going. Your goal is to make the playoffs as soon as you can.
-Your salary cap is at 64.5 million.

I will now give you guys a day or two to glance over the players and understand the rules. Please don't share any strategies or plans.

Also, please confirm your interest here once again. I will randomly pair you up to draft.

I'm here for any questions as well.

There's some absolute studs available. With that said, give me Sens in round 1.

And a friendly reminder, SPECIFICALLY about this rule:
