Maybe to reduce the cap hit in the current seasons?

Maybe they will have worked out something that pushes the cap problem to a later date.

That's what I was thinking. I think this is a bad idea for the future. Suggs will turn 32 this season and they just added years to his contract? That sounds like a disaster for an aging pass-rusher. Anyone know the exact details? If there's a lot of guaranteed money towards the back of this deal they're going to regret this decision.

IMO Suggs can play and be productive for at least 3 more seasons. I don't see the harm. Unless the crippled there cap.

Details available on the Terrell Suggs/Ravens deal: He'll make $12M this year and $16M is guaranteed. Avgs $7M over 3 years until he's 35

    @RapSheet
How much is Flacco making next year?

    According to Spotrac
YEAR BASE S. BONUS MISC. CAP HIT DEAD
    2013 1,000,000 5,800,000 6,800,000 29,000,000

    2014 6,000,000 5,800,000 3,000,000 14,800,000 38,200,000

    2015 4,000,000 5,800,000 4,750,000 14,550,000 36,400,000

    2016 18,000,000 5,800,000 4,750,000 28,550,000 25,850,000

    2017 20,600,000 5,800,000 4,750,000 31,150,000 15,300,000

    2018 20,000,000 4,750,000 24,750,000 4,750,000
It's kinda hard to follow, but it appears almost 15 mill for a cap hit. 2016 and 2017 cap hits are ****ing bananas

^ Wow. Took a minute to set in. 28m and 31m dollar hits in '16 and '17 they are digging a huge cap hole.

    Guys you have it wrong

    Aaron Wilson ‏@RavensInsider 6h
    Terrell Suggs' salary cap figures are $7.8 million (2014), $6.6 million (2015), $6.7 million (2016), $6 million (2017) $6 million (2018)

Not too bad at all. And only 16 mil is guaranteed and that is paid in the first 2 years, so if he ages drastically, we can cut him. Big win for the Ravens FO, and for Suggs being able to retire as a Raven

I should say that's the numbers for Flacco that Austeezy asked for. That might be confusing with the thread being about Flacco. Not sure if you meant Flacco or Suggs, but either way, I still agree 100% with what you said.

Yea that's perfect for them. Good contract for both actually.

OK makes more sense now. Still the Ravens are screwed if Flacco won't extend in '16 - even if he does I'm not sure they want to keep him at such a high cap number.

Yeah, those numbers are really good. I don't really expect Suggs to keep it up more than the first 2 years tbh, but we'll see. His age definitely snuck up on me, I was thinking he was like 29 before I looked it up.

I'm curious if they'll try to add a QB in the 1st round if one falls to them, considering they normally don't draft this high. That or I guess they could see if the team is worse next year.
