As a Braves fan, I love the extension. It's a lot for a closer, but if healthy, Kimbrel has separated himself from every other closer in baseball. The Freeman, Heyward, Teheran, and Kimbrel deals are all critical to the long term success of this team. Simmons and Minor should be next. Hopefully the Braves do what's necessary to extend them too.

I figured he would get more than this.

    Look at Pap

Braves are doing a good job locking players up, lock up Simmons next, and they are set.

Jeffy......I think a signing like Pap's would be a reason for the Braves not to make the same mistake that the Phils made. Pap's is not good for the Phillies. WAY too much for a closer.

Hmm, a lot for a reliever. If anyone deserves it though, it's him.

Not without the open market, besides 10.5 is a lot of money for a reliever.

Braves doin a good job of locking up young players early.

It's alot for a reliever, but Kimbrel is the top of the heap, he deserves it.

Paps was old when phillies sing him. is not comparative for Kimbrel ,all his numbers are out of the charge.

I'm not a huge fan of giving relievers alot of money, but I'll take this deal. With eltie starters getting 23-25M a season, 10-13M for a elite reliever seems fair.

Because they pitch 1 inning a game. It's ridiculous.

Why $9 million and not $8 million or $10 million?

And if a pitcher pitching 1 inning (about 4 batters a game) should only get $9 million a year why shouldn't a batter, who only bats about 4 times a game, only get $9 million?
