Rule Changes to Slam DUNK Contest

TWO TEAMS OF THREE COMPETITORS -- Three players representing the Eastern Conference and three players representing the Western Conference will compete in the two-round competition.

    COMPETITION FORMAT

    > The competition will feature two unique rounds of dunks. Both rounds will be team-based.

    FREESTYLE ROUND

    > The three dunkers for each conference will have a 90-second time limit for all three of them to participate in a freestyle dunk exhibition, featuring an unlimited number of dunks.

    > Each dunker must make at least one dunk attempt during the freestyle round. Dunkers can attempt dunks in any order they determine and are free to assist each other.

    > The East team will dunk first, followed by the West.

    > After both teams compete, the panel of three judges will review their performances and submit a vote by selecting "East" or "West".

    > The conference team with the higher number of judges' votes in the Freestyle Round will be given the choice of order for dunks in the Battle Round.

    BATTLE ROUND

    > The Battle Round will consist of head-to-head matchups pitting the East dunkers vs. the West dunkers.

    > Each dunker will be limited to three attempts to complete a Battle Round dunk.

    > The panel of judges will decide the winner of each head-to-head battle by choosing "East" or "West".

    > Upon losing a head-to-head battle, the losing dunker is eliminated from the competition.

    > The first conference to win THREE head-to-head battles will win the Battle Round and be crowned Slam Dunk champions.

    > If a fourth or ultimately a fifth head-to-head battle is necessary to determine the winner, the remaining players from each conference will compete in the same order in which they began the Battle Round.

I created this in depth thread in the Raps forum and thought I would share with the NBA forum since I have yet to see a discussion created for the all-star game. Enjoy!

Really? You should follow the league more. Legendary shooter.

Anyway, who is in the celeb game this year?
Continue to believe Jackson is not the right man for this job. All I ask is that while you're at it, please demand Curry be traded as well. Because if the goal is to revert to the ways of Warriors teams past—building up something special and then destroying it immediately—we may as well go all out. No reason to half-*** it.

If it wasn't for the sleeves I think they would be quite nice.

Follow the league more? I am well aware of who Dell Curry is. I just don't believe in throwing around the term "legend" so loosely.

Media day on NBA TV in 20 minutes. Nonstop player interviews. My favorite part of ASW.

Team two for the skill competition has two of my favorite players. Will tune in to see them. Will tune in to see Beal and Afflalo.

The rest? Meh. I'll probably just catch the dunk contest highlights later instead of laboring through the actual things and all the misses.

The West is going to absolutely destroy the East in the actual game. Kevin Durant will narrowly beat Anthony Davis for MVP. Blake Griffin will be at the top too.

It's going to be amazing to see how LeBron and KD go at it though.
