Report: Jets Working to Sign Austin Howard Long Term

Thank. ****-ing. God. Although this isn't exactly surprising news.

Awesome. He's come a long way from a few years ago.

Someone told me that talks are delayed as the Jets are having second thoughts of bringing back Wayne Hunter.

This is good. I have always liked Howard. Has potential and is getting better. Anyone who can shutout Mario Williams on more than one occasion is more than alright in my book.

I'm curious to see how much money he gets because he is a good RT but doesn't have the tools to play LT IMO.

Great move and basically a no-brainer. Howard really took a big step forward this year and could even get better... Also brings stability which is a huge positive. Great O-lines need consistency across the line as well as talent.

This is a logical move, the next would be to try and resign Willie Colon.

Good move. I was very much against him being the starter before last year, but he proved me very wrong

While signing Colon would be convenient, I think there are big question marks at the OG positions and wouldn't agree that it's a slam-dunk to stay with Colon who led the team in penalties and tore his triceps the last game. More than that, do the Jets feel comfortable with Winters at LG with his colossal struggles there? Maybe they move him to RG and get a new LG.

Colon tore his triceps in 2011 as well. In spite of his lasting the entire season last year, he's had a tough time staying healthy the past three seasons prior.
