30 for 30: 2003, A-rod signed contract to play for Redsox

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10410371

Some really fascinating stuff. Not sure if this was posted, it came out Feb.5th., but baseball fans gotta love this. This type of stuff is why the Yanks/Sox rivalry is so amazing.

Red Sox were to trade Manny Ramirez, Jon Lester for A-Rod, then Nomar for Magglio Ordonez & Brandon McCarthy

Funny thing is the Sox won the WS in 2004 without Arod if I remember correctly. and again in 2006. Weird how things work out.

I swore I was to only one to remember this. People always looked at me like an alien when I mention arod was a Red Sox player for a day. And I'm not gonna sit here and act as if I wasn't pumped as hell to get him "the next generational superstar" and pissed when the union nixed to trade
and with the 12th pick, The New York Football Giants select ......Odell Beckham Jr, Wide Reciever from Louisana State University

Wow thats crazy. Good thing that it didnt happen. With Nomar getting hurt who knows if the White Sox would've won the World Series in 2005.

I know there was a deal structured to send him to Boston, but that it fell through for whatever reason.

Didn't see this 30 for 30, but I'll watch the link sometime later.

But I do remember this at that time.

A-Rod's first deal with the Rangers was actually a good one. Not only that but the Rangers were paying part of his salary for the first 4 seasons with the Yankees. Too bad they locked him up for another 10 years when he opted out.

    Should have listened to Cashman.

Magglio was in Detroit in 2005 anyways. And we got Uribe in 2003, not sure if that was before these talks though. Starting pitching won that anyways for us.

I was 8 years old in 2003, so this was pretty new to me. Knew the Sox were interested but never knew it was so close.

I remember the day he was traded to NY. I'm a Mets fan but my dads a yanks fan and I remember being in disbelief. Thought they'd never lose again
