2014 Olympic Hockey thread (Leafs Forum edition)

Figured we may as well have our own Olympic forum over the break. I know some people aren't fans of the main forum, me being one of them a lot of the time. Leafs fans can discuss Olympic hockey away here. So friggin pumped for this tourney!

Can't wait. Not only can we cheer for Canada but Jvr and Kessel have my attention too. I hope they can stay healthy and rest up a little for the playoff run though.

Yeah in a perfect world Kessel and Van Reemer both stay healthy and win bronze lol. JVR worries me because he was having to take a ton of practices off leading up to the Olympics just to stay fresh enough to play out this last stretch. Hopefully he doesn't make anything worse over the course of the tourney, but that's gonna be pretty tough. This is the highest caliber of hockey you can get. I love watching on the big ice too as it gives the smarter players a few more seconds to look around to make plays.

I'm waiting for the snowboard cross, but I'm looking forward to some great hockey this break and a possible tryout for Stastny on our top line next year lol

Speed skating, ski and snowboard cross, moguls, and hockey have always been the most exciting.

I'm hoping it ends up like this when its all said and done in hockey

    1. Canada
    2. Russia
    3. Sweden
    4. Finland
    5. USA

I'm probably 1 of 2 Leafs fan who probably wouldn't mind seeing Kessel and JVR win gold.

Phaneuf deserved the call for Canada. Vlasic over Phaneuf? Phanny fits beautifly into that stay at home D-man with a point shot role.

Phaneuf's a great D man but he wasn't close to making team Canada. Not even close. I'm not knocking him here either because he's solid.

Vlasic deserved it over Phaneuf, but Hamhuis is not even close to his level right now. Also anybody else think Kaberle was retired from hockey? Had an assist for the Czechs today
