The Raptors will conclude their western road trip tonight when they take on the Clippers at the Staples Center. Toronto has gone 2-2 on their western trip and will look to end it with a win before coming back home Monday fro a date with the Pelicans. The last time these two teams played, Terrence Ross went off for a career high 51 points which matched the franchise record set by Vince Carter. Tonight Ross will lead the Raptors against a Clippers team that has struggled of late, dropping 3 of their last 4 games. Expect the Clippers to play some lackluster defense but score a tonne of points despite being without their team leader and best player; Chris Paul.
Blake Griffin is coming off a monster performance against the Heat in his last game in which he scored 43 points. Crawford also had a big night as he scored 31 points. Both players are the focus on offense for this Clippers team and the Raps must do their best to contain both players. Amir Johnson will look to force Griffin to shoot that mid range jumper in this one and limit the opportunities for Blake to post up or attack the rim. If Amir, Patterson and Psycho T can limit Griffin to being a spot up shooter from 12 feet out, Toronto just very well might have a chance in this one. Another particular area that the Raps have to focus on is defending and closing out on the Clippers shooters. Last game, the Clippers torched Toronto from beyond the arch as the team failed to close put on the ball when the ball was reversed. Toronto needs to contest all looks and give up as few open shots as possible.
Lets go Raptors!
