In addition, the #Packers will add Sam Gash as running backs coach. http://bit.ly/1ijOK9y
Gash was drafted by the New England Patriots in 1992 and played 12 years in the NFL. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 1998 and 1999. He was cut by the Ravens in 2004 and moved on to coaching the following year with the New York Jets as an assistant running backs coach.

Gash was a part of the Lions coaching staff since 2007, when he signed on as a special teams assistant. He became the Lions running backs coach in 2008, a job he held until December of 2012.

Maybe a Mod can add this to the title somehow: Ron Zook Reportedly Joining Packers as Assistant Coach

As first reported by Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com, former University of Florida and Illinois head coach will be joining the Green Bay Packers as an assistant coach.

Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was quick to follow, saying Zook will become Green Bay’s outside linebackers coach, replacing the recently departed Kevin Greene, who stepped down to spend more time with family.

Zook has a reputation as a good recruiter but poor Xs and Os guy as a college head coach, going 57-65 in 10 years between Florida and Illinois. He originally stepped into a difficult position, replacing the highly successful Steve Spurrier back in 2002.

Prior to his stints as a college head coach, Zook previously spent seven years in the NFL as an assistant coach, including 2000 and 2001 as defensive coordinator of the New Orleans Saints, while on the same staff as Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

Before that, Zook was defensive backs coach for the Kansas City Chiefs in 1999 and special teams coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers from 1996 to 1999.

Under Zook, the #Saints led the NFL in sacks from 2000-2001 with 119 (22 more than the next team).

In 2011, Zook's last season at Illinois, the Fightin' Illini ranked seventh nationally in total defense and sixth in sacks.

Am told that Zook may not necessarily be replacing Kevin Greene. May be some shuffling around. But Zook is being hired. #Packers

It's likely that McCarthy has promoted defensive quality control assistant Scott McCurley to the outside linebackers position. McCurley has assisted inside linebackers coach Winston Moss since 2009 and has been with the Packers organization since 2009.

Here's the official report from Packers.com
The Green Bay Packers have named Winston Moss assistant head coach/linebackers, Alex Van Pelt quarterbacks coach, Scott McCurley assistant linebackers coach, Jason Simmons defensive/special teams assistant, John Rushing defensive quality control coach, Sam Gash running backs coach, Ron Zook assistant special teams coach, Luke Getsy offensive quality control coach and Chris Gizzi strength and conditioning assistant. Head Coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement Friday.

“The offseason is progressing with the finalization of adjustments and additions to our coaching staff,” McCarthy said. “Every day and every decision has the focus on bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay. The evaluation process will continue with a vision to change, adjust or emphasize any aspect of our program to help us reach the attainable goal of another Super Bowl championship.”

Its going to crack me up hearing the rb coach's name being gash... Its bad enough every time I hear them say "the RB just gashed the defense" or whatever to that same effect.

Packers Reportedly Add Offensive Coaching Assistant
By Brian Carriveau on Feb 14, 2014 with 0 Comments

From Tom Dienhart of the Big Ten Network:

Former #Hawkeyes QB and assistant David Raih has joined the Green Bay Packers as an offensive coaching assistant. Smart, hard-working guy.
    2:11 PM - 14 Feb 2014

Raih had reportedly been promoted from director of high school to relations to outside receivers coach in December, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Presumably, Raih will assume the role of offensive quality control coach, taking over John Rushing, who switched to the defensive side of the football among several recent coaching changes within the organization.

There has been no confirmation from the Packers.
