Projections are not predictions.
It's a fairly important distinction.
I agree that there is a difference between the two, but is still depends on the assumption for the future. If the assumption holds to be true, then the projection will be a good for analyzing data. However, we know that changes is very likely in sports, such as baseball, **** happens. There are trends, but we know in baseball a trend can be reversed simply by one swing of the bat. I agree with you that the term I used was in fact not completely interchangeable and I was wrong to mix one for the other, but they are similar that they rely on assumptions.
I guess what im trying to say is that there is more than just numbers. I am very subjective about sports so I am a bit bias when it comes to putting value and predicting for the future. I can never be good if get a FO job, because I have an old timer's subjective mind when it comes to sport. I like to be in it rather than an armchair kind of person.
