Emilio Bonifacio To The Yankees (Maybe?)

The Yankees have a chance to trade a bag of balls for Emilio Bonifacio. I say they should go for it and use him to back up the infield and outfield. He'll be great for pinch running, base stealing, the occasional bunt & hit and runs. He's inexpensive and we won't lose a draft pick for him.

    Your thoughts.

Very misleading thread. We've already kinda discussed this in the offseason thread, too.

Well, maybe it's time to revisit this subject since many people (including myself) are not Stephen Drew fans.

Bonifacio will only be for one year and then the Yankees can concentrate on either trying to trade for Tulo or sign FA Hanley next year since Jeter will retire after this year.

if he has a year this year like his 2012 i doubt he hangs up his cleats.

I also, would pass. He's not good.

He put up one above average year offensively and that was in 2011 and is a butcher in the field. His defense is terrible. We already have a guy who can do what you want him to do. Nunez.

He plays for the Dodgers, he's getting resigned.

Why trade for someone who we probably have better in AA ball? The people who came up with this have the Bill Engvall ADD symptoms... oooo, shiney object...

Hell, I would not trade a full chamber pot for the guy.. he's just not worth it...

I agree. Bonifaco can play a lot of positions, but he doesn't play any of them well... And he doesn't hit well. He's really not an upgrade over what Dean Anna offers. Or Nunez for that matter.

I wouldn't do it unless we are sure that what we lose is worse than he is. While it's true that he wouldn't cost us a draft pick, he will cost us something off our 40 man roster.

Why waste a spot on the 40 man with a guy who can maybe add value as a pinch runner? Speed is not a need on this team that I would think is in need of addressing.

    Thanks JR!
