Who's The Best Two-Way WINGER In Hockey?

I was thinking this the other day while watching Chicago. They've got Toews in the middle, and two elite players of this catergory on the wing (Hossa, Sharp). Kind of thought about how underrated wingers are in the two-way catergory.

I was kind of thinking one of these two. Then Joe Pavelski, Loui Eriksson, Ryan O'Reilly, and Zach Parise started to pop into my head.

We know the best are always labeled as players that play in the middle (Datsyuk, Toews, Kesler, Backes, Staal, Cogliano, Bergeron).

    Who do you have?

Definitely the names you mentions, though Pavelski and O'Reilly both have played center so they aren't "pure"wingers. Some underrated names out there include Steen, Oshie, and Marchand (homer pick)

I know that. Pavelski's played winger for like two seasons now, and O'Reilly is 50 games into his first season on the wing.

ROR's game is literally split between defense and offense.

Guys like Dats and Toews are close to a guy like ROR defensively but are more noticeably above him offensively.

    Loui Eriksson
Henrik Zetterberg (Plays some wing right? If not correct me.)

Since your asking for a winger, not wingers, it's got to be Hossa.

I think it's one of Parise, or Eriksson (defensively he's been great, has struggled offensively with the concussions, which is interesting considering it's usually the opposite.) though I love Hossa too.

    I think it was.

Hossa is right up there. Eriksson and Marchand are very good as well. A lot of them are in the same class IMO. Pavelski, Landeskog, etc. If I had to choose one it'd be Hossa, with Eriksson close behind.

I haven't watched Loui in as many games when he was in Dallas compared to Boston, but defensively he has been amazing. Everything as advertised. I am definitely impressed.

I've said this in the past...Hossa is a better defensive player than Toews, he just happens to play wing. Think about that for a second. It certainly isn't a knock on Toews since he is one of the top two way centers in the league...but it is a whole lot of praise for Hossa. I have never seen someone be such a hound on the backcheck as Hossa...it is absolutely amazing to watch him play hockey. Great on the boards, smart in his own end, and always breaks up pending plays.

It's Hossa. The guy is just a monster. At least once or twice a game I find myself amazed by how hard he back checks. Watching him game in and game out is a pleasure.
