It's Official: Shea is moving to LB

    Roto:

The Chicago Tribune confirms 2012 first-round pick Shea McClellin will convert to strong-side linebacker this offseason.

After failing as a pass-rush specialist, the Bears hope to salvage McClellin's career as a stand-up linebacker, where GM Phil Emery believes he can upgrade the team's run defense. Chicago's hope is McClellin will make like Seahawks DE-turned-SLB Bruce Irvin and allow the Bears to field as many athletes on defense as possible. McClellin mostly played with his hand up at Boise State.
Good move.. He sucks at DE.

There's literally not a single thing that's official.

It's Brad Biggs wanting to have a story line to talk about the Seahawks. Seriously.

Now, it's not farfetched to think that that's what'll happen, but official this is not.

It's been official since Emery's press conference. We don't have to pretend it's speculation.

It's what he did in college so I think it makes sense. Also I believe bringing in hurrt for d line coach was part of working with Shea as he helped marcus smith develop into what he was in college from what I have read about hurrt.

I would be happy if Shea can strive in this role has the chane to be better then Bruce Irvin in this role IMO has better instincts. Could save his career like it did for Irvin.

I think everyone should be exciting we actually have a coaching staff and GM that is willing to admit their wrongs and try and fix it. Movie would of just forced Shea down our throats until he busted out of the league.

I think so I think bostic will rotate over there with Shea.
And we either sign Anderson back or another MLB with less of an injury concern woodyard would be nice IMO.

I would love to have beason in the middle tho he had a good year no injurys and fits that bobby Wagner type MLB if we're trying to be more like Seahawks defense.

Excellent move! I'm optimistic about this decision. I think it will pay dividends in the long run (hopefully). And kudos to Emery & Co. for not turning a blind-eye and making moves that will help this team. There's always room to swallow your pride.

It absolutely is speculation. For all we know, he'll be playing OLB in hybrid situations.

There isn't a damn thing that is official. We don't know where he's playing. We don't know under what circumstances he'll be playing. We know nothing other than Emery likes his athleticism.

Reading into things that aren't said can and do bite people in the ***. I certainly think there's a strong possibility of Shea being a LB in a 4-3, but not a single thing is official. It's official when it is official.
