Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Indians will "probably" discuss a contract extension with Jason Kipnis during spring training.

Hoynes adds that Kipnis is "open" to an extension. The Tribe's second baseman isn't eligible for arbitration until after the upcoming season, but it sounds like Cleveland wants to lock him up through his arbitration years and possibly into free agency. Kipnis, 26, is coming off a year where he batted .284/.366/.452 with 17 homers, 84 RBI and 30 stolen bases.
