The Boston Bruins travel to Philadelphia for the first meeting of the season between these two teams and this also marks the beginning of a very brief two game road trip for the Bruins which will conclude Monday in New York against the Islanders.
The Boston Bruins will face their first game action since Monday when they defeated the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in Boston, splitting the season series. The four days of rest will certainly be of benefit to the Bruins who have been plagued by the injury bug as of late and Rask has had to work quite hard at times. The four day layoff also allowed for two key players to heal up a bit as Chris Kelly and Dougie Hamilton were cleared to practice, and in fact, Hamilton may return to the lineup as early as this afternoon!
While a four day layoff may provide a tad bit of rust, the Bruins legs should be very fresh and I expect them to come out flying and playing with a refreshed feeling. The one negative of such a long layoff may reflect on Brad Marchand who has been on an absolute tear as of late. Hopefully he still has the hot hands going.
Given the history between these two teams and how each team attacks the game, I would expect this to be a very physical battle between the two teams.
As the month of January is coming to a close and we move closer and closer to the Olympic break the Bruins look to further solidify their playoff position and also look to remain atop the division. The Bruins will also look to extend their point streak to 4 games as they boost a record of 2-0-1 in their past three.
LET'S GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!
