From what I understand, this guy is viewed as a 3-4 rush backer or a 4-3 Sam in a Von Miller type role moving down to a stand up end in nickel? If thats the case I think I disagree and that he's more suited for WLB in a 43 (but what do I know compared to NFL GMs).
He can move really well and bend pretty well, but he's such a project. He's way too light and a liability against the run (excluding pursuit, because he can run, play well in space, and has good closing speed). No technique - passively takes on blocks with his shoulder, doesn't use his hands well, and has absolutely no pass rush moves. How can someone with no hands and pass rush moves be considered an elite pass rusher in this draft? I don't get it.
His effort is questionable/inconsistent as well. Was my first time watching his tape and I don't get the hype at all. So please, fill me in to what the deal is with this guy, I dont see it.
Edit - I get that he has out of this world physical tools and I can see him becoming a player with a good staff, so I guess my hesitation for anointing this guy a future star lies in the fact that I have hesitation for raw players with a lack of faith in the Giants ability to develop players ability to rush the passer since Waufle left.
