HOUSTON -- The latest on DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay is they will both be evaluated Thursday afternoon to determine the severity of the injuries they suffered in Wednesday’s 119-98 loss to the Houston Rockets at Toyota Center.
Gay left the game at the 6:01 mark of the first quarter with a strained left Achilles. Cousins left at the 7:17 mark of the second quarter with a sprained left ankle.
Both had on walking boots as they left the locker room. Cousins was also on crutches.
“We won’t know until we got home tomorrow and get some testing done to know the severity of those injuries,” said Kings coach Michael Malone. “Obviously it’s a big loss when you lose those guys both in the first half but unfortunately other guys who were able to play didn’t respond. We got our butts kicked tonight and we’re a no excuse team. So whether Rudy or DeMarcus plays, the fact that we guarded no one tonight has nothing to with them not playing in the second half.”
