Outside receiver for the AFCCG?
It's obviously early and we don't know who will play and who won't. But Thompkins left the Colts game with a head injury, which screams concussion. With the league protocols for concussions, he probably won't play next week. And Dobson has a foot injury and missed this past week. Now obviously none of us have any clue whats going on with Dobson but the fact that he missed this past playoff game despite the bye and numerous weeks to rest up makes you wonder how badly injured he is. There's a very realistic shot he doesn't suit up. And then finally, as we all know, Boyce was put on IR a few weeks ago.
So my question is, if Dobson can't go again (possible) and Thompkins is out (likely), who the hell is our outside WR? We'd have Edelman, Amendola and Collie would be our 3rd receiver (no one can tell me that doesn't scare you). All 3 of them are more slot receivers. While they all can play on the outside, you would obviously prefer to have them in the slot, especially Amendola and Collie for that matter, whose more irrelevant honestly.
Do the Pats sign another receiver? Just go with those 3? What happens? I'm very curious. Really hope both Dobson and Thompkins can go and at the very least, at least one of them plays. While Thompkins didn't do much against Indy, we didn't need to pass much. Not sure that we can get away with that again, especially if we fall behind.
