ARod will miss 2014. It's official.
I know this seems a little crazy, and the Yankees don't really have much depth in the minors, but they do have a few high ceiling low level prospects.
Murphy in YS makes a lot of sense for the Yankees since it's a place where he could probably hit 20+ HR without sacraficing other parts of his offensive game like BA/BB's to increase his HR output.
Murphy is also under team control through 2015, not too expensive, is a proven NY producer, and can man 3B in 2014, then 2B, DH, or fill in 1B/3B in 2015.
If I were Sandy, I'd at least gague the Yankees' potential interest. If I were Cashman, I'd already be on the phone with Sandy asking what it would take to pry Murphy away.
Why should the Mets go for this? Trading Murphy clears the way for Flores at 2B, allows them to sign Drew without money being an issue, and would replenish the prospects who will lost due to the lost 2nd and 3rd round draft picks.
