Raps have pulled Lowry from trade talks and will attempt to re-sign him

If, at the end of it, the Raptors are still surfing a low tide across the top of the Atlantic Division, that will be the signal for an entrenchment.

At that point, everyone stays where they are and the Raptors dig in for a playoff run.

That would mean sticking with Kyle Lowry, who is playing the best basketball of his career and has emerged as a locker room leader.

Though history suggests that Lowry will be looking elsewhere to find a big free-agent deal once the season ends, thatís not the feeling amongst the Raptors management. They remain convinced that Lowry is willing to sign long-term in Toronto. Lowry isnít saying one way or the other.

Regardless, the team is comfortable taking their chance of losing Lowry for nothing, if it means the possibility of a substantial post-season run.

Not a surprise. Great to see him play his best ball for this coach and franchise. They've pushed him and he's responded in the most positive way he could.

A smart move, trading for a late late pick would more than likely just result in another bench player who's here for a season or two.

I don't think it was by design. The offers were terrible.

I'd give him market value. I'd assume it's around 10-11mil over 4-5 years.

I agree with that if we are talking about great selections but look at the trouble he had putting a team on the court that could play together. His single great team building success was when he signed a great facilitator in Nash, who pulled everything together for BC in PHX.

It is a risky move. But I see why Mu would do this. I really hope he re-signs with the team.

yep, always leary of guys putting up big numbers in a contract year. Lowry has never averaged more than 14ppg or even 7apg in any season... now he's putting up 16 & almost 8 in a contract year... coincidence? I don't know, but for a guy with injury issues and past health issues, it's a huge gamble not to trade him just because TOR is at .500 now. and he's going to want big money until he's like 32.

    very risky.
