Lol, wouldn't doubt it. After further review I believe it was a strip sack TD that I'm thinking of, not a safety.

Not sure how Webb did in terms of eye testing, but PFF liked him. Granted, the two games where he had his highest snaps were Dallas (34) and Washington (53). But in those two games he put up a combined +1.7 score, and he finished as a +2.7 on the year (the last 1.0 came on 21 total snaps though, so it's pretty unreliable)

    McGee? **** McGee?

Rocky mcintosh as our starting SLB? Who had a total of 41 snaps played last year? No thanks

Not taking ayers as our premium pass rusher.

Agreed I don't want our starting DEs to have had 8.5 sacks combined the year before. With Rocky starting and Bowman starting that defense would probably be worse than this years.

I was thinking about the idea of letting Melton and Ratliff walk, and keeping Wootton at DT. Sign Ayers and Bennett or Hardy, draft safety, corner, more D-line depth, and whatever else we need and our line would be

    Ayers/Wonton/Paea/Bennett or Hardy

Also Wonton graded much better at DT than he ever did at DE, so we could actually get really sick value out of him if he signed a 4/18 or 3/12ish contract than most DTs that played as well as him. Bring back Collins along with a couple mid-round D-lineman and we got some interesting D-line depth for probably cheaper than we could've expected

Agreed. Emery already talked about bostic not fitting great at mike anyway. On top of that constanzo would be his primary back up? Who really didn't look good anywhere but special teams.

So our LB core would worse, corners same worsish, RB core worse, no tight end that can block in space(which we need desperately), and a rookie center to snap the ball.

You just seen what a wootton/paea d-line looks like why would you want to repeat that?

That interior d-line would get shredded. If you want Wonton at DT then we would need Nix or someone else fat at NT.

When Peppers and Shea are the starting defensive ends, it's not entirely fair to blame them for our struggles |D In terms of individual play, they were our best DT. So, yes I do want to repeat that. Just fix the DE position, which is generally cheaper than DT. Also this way we upgrade at 3 positions. Wonton is probably a slight upgrade over 2013 Peppers @ DE, but not enough for it to matter. He's a significant upgrade/safer option to Ratliff/Cohen at DT (and comes at a very reasonable price). Ayers and Bennett on the other hand are such clear upgrades to Peppers/Shea I shouldn't even have to say anything to explain why I like the idea.
