Bout due for a new rumor to argue about.
Brodie, still taking the deer penis extract?
MY ideal Final Stretch for the M's offseason:
Sign Tanaka (6/$108MM...realistic?)
Trade Franklin, Pike and Smoak (as primary pieces) for solid, young OF player that can hit LHP
- should trade not be available for APPROPRIATE player be prepared to enter season with Guti/Saunders (CF), Almonte/Ackley (LF) and Warm Bucket of Spit (RF), Hart/LoMo (1B/DH), Franklin (supersub)
I think either way, we have to look at Guti/Saunders as a platoon in either CF or RF.

Make minor signings such as:
Jeff Baker for OF
Andrew Bailey for bullpen
John Buck for backup catcher
Maholm for #5 SP (you never have enough pitching)
Sizemore for a chance to prove he is healthy.
I would give them all 1 year deals and see what they can do in spring training. Give them the deal they gave Garland to which if he wasn't guaranteed a roster spot by a certain spring training date they would deal him or release him so he could look for work elsewhere.
I really like Buck and Bailey ideas. I dont think Bailey will be ready til late may/june though
I'd love Maholm too
Maholm profiles so well!
Felix
Tanaka
Kuma
Erasmo
Maholm
We can afford letting Walker and paxton win their job in spring training!
Read Jimenez wants tons of money.. Let any other team pay him.
I also have to agree with all of the ideas that came up in this new thread.. I just can't see any available Of on the trade market that will help us without giving up our top pitching specs..
If we get Tanaka I want walker and Paxton filling out the end of the rotation unless traded.
Had a dream last night we signed Tanaka...

I agree. Get Tanaka, Buck and Sizemore and hope that Almonte, Ackley and Franklin can all produce in their roles OR utilize Franklin, Smoak and minor league assets for OF.
