It is the new fancy rule to keep the team that won the toss from just ending the game with a field goal.
If SD had scored a touchdown then the game would be over. If they just kick a field goal then KC gets one possession to try to tie it up (game goes on) or score a td for the win.
I thought that the KC second team pretty much gave SD all they could handle for 4+ quarters. When KC had a field goal try with like 8 seconds left I thought.. damn they just got wooped at home by the second and third string. But have to hand it to them and the ref's... they pulled it out at the end.
The call by Weddell for the fake punt was foolish. you don't do that in OT from like your own 25. Especially when playing against the other teams backups and your playoff life is on the line. He didn't make it (IMO).... and his helmet was off before he got pushed close enough to the line of gain for the ref's to gift a first down to SD... but it counts. It is in the book. Counts.
Now on to the 'Nnati. I for one hate the Red Rocket (super-ginger) with a passion so I'm in with the bolts this coming week. The Bengals are damn dangerous and can hit the long one or pound it out. It will be cold and angry.
