Hopefully we can solve Harding and put some goals on the board. Also, Meszaros gets Gus' spot in the lineup.

Need to see how the guys respond after the disappointing third period in CBJ.

Harding is out getting treatments for his MS, so Backstrom will be playing tonight; he played last night as well.

MIN plays a very defensive style and thrive on mistakes, so the Flyers are really going to have to be patient and take advantage of their chances when they get them.

    Penalties, penalties, penalties...

Can the Flyers get discipline for Christmas?

Mez has looked very good so far. If he plays like this for the duration of filling in for Gus, no way a team lets him sit on the healthy scratch sheet for much longer.

Lol. Why does Streit feel the need to pinch in when they're up by 2 in the 3rd period?

Agreed. Mez has been good. Also like Luke Schenn's game today. Aggressive offensively and he has been smart in those decisions. Also asserting himself physically.

Yet another strong game for the top line as well. Point streaks extended for Jake and G.

I always liked Mez and Gus, never understood the Streit signing. Nice W before a few days off and the long road trip.

Tumultuous 2013 for sure. Decent way to end the year in Philadelphia. Be in 3rd place at the end of the night.
    #WhyNot?

People ask me, "Why here? Why Kentucky?", I said "Why not"? It can be done here. It will be done here. Lay the foundation. Recruit and develop. Prepare to win. Day by day. Play by play. A new era of high performance. Why Kentucky? Why not? -Mark Stoops

So much talent, so little consistency.

If Luke and Mez could play like this on a regular basis, this team wouldn't have a problem. Unfortunately that seems like an impossible task.

Trade freeze coming is going to give the Flyers a while to assess this team and hopefully find a way to get another PMD in here.

A consistent top 4 PMD and this team makes a dramatic improvement real quick.

opinion: would you consider Dion Phaneuf one? because I am not so sure he does, yet he would require a kings ransom in a trade, and will get 7 years $8 million without a problem this summer. So if he isnt one, you would think that means its virtually impossible to land one unless you make a risky trade for a prospect, or draft him yourself (see my sig lol)

Phaneuf is not what we need, that means we will 100% sign him

last night was Hartnell's best game in his last 6 or 7

Coburn's play has really fallen off the last 5 games ... Mez did play well

anyone have any word on downie?

Phaneuf wont be worth the price tag. Good defenseman, not great. To me he somewhat fits into the Byfuglien category in the sense that he just wont be worth the cost of acquiring him.

The Flyers have to stop making these kinds of moves. If you want a stop gap until guys like Gost and Morin are ready to step in, then you go after someone that wont cost you an arm and a leg to acquire. No point in giving up valuable pieces for a player like that.

Id much rather see them go after someone like Kulikov, Weircioch, Orlov, etc. They wont cost a ton, they fill a need, and they are young players that can grow with the team.

As far as Downie goea, he has skated the last two practices so he may be getting close. I think he will travel with the team and if he doesnt play in EDM he will play the following game.
