if we can get omer asik for scraps plus next year's pick(idk if they can as it's a swap pick w/hawks) then they can still salvage a run at miami this year. omer for brook is not much of a downgrade. just last night I saw brook lose position so many times. he lacks so much in the hustle/grit department.

Here are 3 trades I put together that would change and sort of solve some of our short-term (this year) problems and some of our long-term flexibility (no draft picks until like 2020) problems.

    Nets-Houston
    Teletovic ($3,229,050/2yrs) & Terry ($5,625,313/2yrs) for Asik ($8,374,646/2yrs)
    * Nets get a defensive and rebounding center while saving $479,717. Asik would also be an expiring contract next season so not a long-term commitment.
    * Houston gets that stretch 4 to play alongside Howard, along with the 3pt shooter in Terry.

    Nets-Memphis
    Pierce ($15,333,334/1yr) & Evans ($1,695,635/2yrs) for
    * Memphis wants to get rid of Randolph’s salary for next season, so this would help them by receiving Pierce’s expiring contract.

    Z. Randolph (18,238,333/2yrs) and Mike Miller (884,293/1yr)
    * Nets get a powerful PF who can score the ball in the paint and can grab both offensive and defensive rebounds. Randolph would also be an expiring contract next year so it’s not a long-term commitment with him; putting him in the same line-up with Lopez next season sounds interesting.

    Nets-Sacramento
    D-will ($18,466,130/4yrs) & Shengelia ($788,872/1yr) for

Isaiah Thomas ($884,293/1yr), Ben McLemore ($2,895,960/4yrs), Marcus Thornton ($8,050,000/2yrs), Jason Thompson ($5,643,750/4yrs), 2 first round picks (2015 and 2017)
    * This is what Sacramento offered Boston for Rondo*
    * Nets get a couple young players with potential in Thomas and McLemore along with 2 first round picks.

    PG: Thomas, Livingston, Taylor
    SG: Anderson, McLemore, Thornton
    SF: JJ, Kirilenko, Miller
    PF: Randolph, Blatche, Thompson
    C: KG, Asik, Plumlee
    IR: Lopez

    Free Agents after 2014 Season
    1) Thomas
    2) Livingston
    3) Taylor
    4) Miller
    5) Kirilenko can opt out

    2015 Expiring Contracts
    1) Thornton ($8,050,000)
    2) Randolph ($18,238,333)
    3) Asik ($8,374,646)
    4) KG ($12,433,735)- if he doesn’t retire after this season (2014)

I think 'Beast' is somewhat overstating Lopez's impact on the game.

Asik only counts as 8 mill per for 2yrs on Houston, for the Nets he wud be a little bit over 5mill this yr then a little bit over 15 mill next yr. Its how they structured that poison pill contract

    Mike Woodson NYK

    Record ... 72 - 34

Which would make his value even less and a straight up trade for f.i. jason terry with that 2015 first round pick realistic. An offer of Plumlee+Jason Terry+2015 first round pick (late 1st round since its a Hawk swap) for Omer is a very good one, maybe the best they will get. They save almost 10 million next year, get another 1st round pick and can still use Terry next year in a trade as a 5 mill expiring. Nets will lose youth which they actually will need in Plumlee though.

Well we traded the pick so that wont be smart. ATL or Boston has our pick or can swap picks for the next few years our hands are tied now

Smart move is to go after Asik. We have nothing to lose by going after him. Bottom line is we've been saying this for 3.5 years now but DWILL has to return to his "superstar" form. He did for a few months last season he needs to do it again.
