The Bears Defense can become elite again

After seeing the injuries to the Bears defensive line and the secondary, I still think that the Bears can be an elite defense. Here's how:

    • Switch to a 3-4 Defense
    • Move McClellin to OLB, Bostic to OLB, Anderson/Greene/Rookie as ILB, Briggs/Williams/Greene as ILB
    • Keep Melton as DT, Change Ratliff to NT, Keep Paea as DT
    • Jennings/Bowman remains CB, McManis/Frey at CB, Wright/Walters at SS, Steltz/Rookie at FS
    • Let Peppers, Tillman, Conte walk
    • Trade Wootton for draft picks
    • Draft (Defense) ILB, FS, CB

    How does this sound?

Any situation where Wright is still on the team, yet alone starting at SS is a bad one.

Why was this created? Not even Bears fans are discussing this.

Are you kidding me? You cannot win championships without defense. You can't stop good players without a defense. If the offense has a lot of trouble or injuries that prevent points from being scored, the season would be over. The Bears need a defense to be a contender or to survive in the playoffs.

I believe he means the 34 conversion, not improving the defense.

And moving players around, and cutting some lazy secondary players, and waving goodbye to some old friends, and drafting some young, potential to become good, defensive players

I don't see how a 3-4 changes their team very much. They need more talented players before anything will change (which I imagine they'll address in the off-season), regardless of if they stay in a 4-3 or change to a 3-4.

As an NFL fan I have enjoyed the great Bears D's for years... and I feel sad, with cap, they wont bring back their historical strength while paying a mediocre QB 80 - 100 mil in todays standards...
