Who Do You Want as the Lions next HC?

Well, seeing as its very likely now after this MNF debacle that Schwartz will not be back next year. Who would have your vote? I have three coaches I'd love. Two of them would need to be recruited off TV. The first is Gruden, who seems to really like the Lions, and I think, givent he opporunity, he would sprint to Detroit to get that job. Second would be Cowher. The guy was a great coach, and he is a hard ***. You`d respect him as a coach and wouldnt eff around. My last choice would be Mark Dantonio. I am a Wolverines fan so no Spartan bias. But the guy has a great football mind. The offense is in place with the Lions. The D needs help, and Dantonio is a defensive mastermind. He would know how to use the D he has (specifically the D line and line backers). He would build and coach new corners and safeties they would draft or sign into being good players. And its not like he is an offensive schmuck either. Higher a competent OC to deal with it if need be. I just think he would be a great fit for the Lions. But the one major thing I want to see in the next HC is plenty of head coaching experience. No mroe going out there getting an OC/DC and put them on the field as a rookie head coach. This team needs a coach with experience. A veteran.

B.O.B. is the first phone call I'd make with Lovie Smith being #2. If Coughlin is fired he'd be #3.

    1. Bill O'Brien 2. Lovie Smith 3. I'm not going to lie. I've run Gruden's name into the ground in the past. I've ALWAYS thought he only won with Dungy's team and then ran TB into the ground BUT...I can't say that he didnt' make 100% sense every time he opened his mouth talking about all the Lions problems. I'm leaning towards, that he has to at least get a phone call to gauge interest. I don't think, if I was Gruden, I'd want to leave my cushy job at ESPN...and he did reup, BUT, if he has even the smallest interest, it's worth looking into.....then Coughlin.

My only hesisitation with Smith is the OC he'd bring with him. While his defense was always excellent, and granted he didn't have the best offensive talent, but Smith's offenses in general were just the worst.

Lovie with Mike Martz as OC. "Greatest Show on Turf" didn't work for Cutler, but it would be a slam dunk with our current Lions offense.

    1) Bill cowher: hard nose, smash mouth football.
    2) lovie smith, though I hate going back to the Tampa 2 two system & ideally I'd like to keep linehan.
    3) the OC from the saints Pete Carmichael.
    4) maybe gruden. I say maybe because I feel he ran tb into the ground. He did a good job with Oakland, great immediately in Tampa, then went down hill fast. I thought tampa gave him all th freedom to do what he wanted. If true, then I'm reluctant to hire him in Det.

I'm going to throw this out there....

If whool's theory is correct; why not hire Rex Ryan as HC & Rob Ryan as DC? Has a team of coaching brothers ever won a Super Bowl? It'll make "must see tv" & a huge media circus.

This team is already a bunch of circus animals so I guess that makes sense!! I think we should hire al Borges too with Rex and rob so we can complete the heaviest coaching staff in the nfl!

If we hire Cowher, a Detroit/Pittsburgh Superbowl is almost guaranteed.

There is no doubt that if bill ford really wants cowher, he can wheel him in,
I heard reports earlier in the season that cowher has expressed interest in coaching again
