Gamethread: New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks - Is Fatigue a Factor or Does it Matter?

    Saturday Dec 14th
    @
    7:30 PM ET
    Madison Square Garden

    Your New York Knicks!

Pablo Prigioni / Shumpert / Tim Hardaway / Carmelo Anthony / Primo Pasta

    Atlanta Hawks

Jeff Teague / Kyle Korver / DeMarre Carroll / Paul Milsap / Al Horford

    Knick Updates

Amare Stoudemire came off the bench for a season-high 18 points, five rebounds, a steal and a block on 7-of-9 shooting in 30 minutes on Friday.
Stoudemire is rolling, averaging 16 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.3 blocks on 70 percent shooting over his last four games.
Kenyon Martin suffered an abdominal strain in the fourth quarter of Friday's game and will not return. He was walking back to the locker room gingerly and was in a lot of pain. The Knicks will have to lean on Amare Stoudemire even more and Andrea Bargnani could pick up more minutes. Martin should be considered doubtful for Saturday's game against the Hawks. He finished Friday's game with eight points, seven boards and four steals in 24 minutes.
Mike Woodson said Tyson Chandler (fractured leg) will go through some contact Friday for the first time since breaking his right leg Nov. 4 and will be evaluated Monday.

I wish Woodson would just get canned. I'd like to see Amare in the starting lineup for 35 minutes a night. Give him 15-20 shots and see if he can be what he was in 2010-2011 for us.

If he blows out his knee, fine, who cares. He either a. retires or b. our season sucks anyway so we have nothing to lose.

These last 5-6 games for Amare have been stellar in 20-30 minutes. And he's not even putting up that many shots. I'd rather get him WAY more touches, starting tonight, in the starting lineup. It beats Melo shooting 9-24.

Let's see... the Hawks have size on the inside. And Jeff Teague is a quick point guard.

    Yeah... this sounds familiar.

Our biggest issue won't be fatigue, it's that we're sucking.
J.R. Smith: "They were pretty much scoring at will. Especially my guy. I don't know what the hell I was doing on defense."

Raymond Felton : "The play was give the ball to Melo."

Funny how things go, Amare said he wouldn't play last night, Woody says he will play and no minutes cap.

Now we are playing him TOO much.

But it is what it is, we're paying him $100m, let's ride him out.

Maybe with STAT resting and Martin hurt, Chandler still rehabbing, we'll see the birth of Cole-Sanity!!!!

Maybe the Cole Train will finally leave the station.

    Can you feel the Aldrichicity?

    New Cole City

    The Hawks will be Colecified!

A Stone Cole Defensive and Rebounding Machine

Cole in Control, Shocking and Blocking,

Are you ready to feel the heat of the Cole Fire?

I tried. His name doesn't lead to easy nicknames.

    Maybe the STAT approach?

TWAD = Tall White And Defends

    or maybe Col'e

come to think of it, i wouldnt play Amare tonight, its not fair to him. he's worked too hard and to go from playing 10mpg to now 30mpg+ and 4 games in 5 night in just a 20 game span is not fair to him.

    Play MWP & Cole.

Man I hope this doesn't get bad for Amare. I think this is a selfish move by Woody.
The value of elite scoring ability, by Phil Jackson:

"This is a guy, we recognize his talent, and his skill is the kind of skill and talent that gets you through playoff games where things get sticky, grind-out, and basketball becomes a force game and suddenly you need to have a player who has the capabilities of scoring with someone hanging on them in a situation thatís critical. Heís one of those players, one of the few players who can do that.Ē

Woodson says hes starting JR Smith and Iman together to see if he can "get those guys going."
    5:47pm - 14 Dec 13

Medical staff hasn't set a minutes cap for Stoudemire, according to Woodson. No restrictions tonight.
