Giants won't upgrade bench this offseason

Expect the Giants to have a homegrown bench next year. "Frankly, the price for extra men has gone through the roof," Sabean said

Sanchez, Pill, Arias, Blanco, Perez... most likely.

Awesome. Let's hope like hell nobody gets injured. A weakness for years still won't be addressed.

Kelly Johnson cost a whopping $3 million. How the fcuk is that through the roof? It pays to have a good bench, especially when you have guys like Pagan and Sandoval on your team. Hooray for below average!!

Would you trust a blind scout? Of course you wouldn't but that's what you do when you simply go by stats

Sabean has become a parody of himself at this point.

I was told there was "plenty of money" left.

Is the ownership just mocking us as fans now?

Brian Sabean is a ****ing joke. So sick of the BS statements from the front office that arbitrarily change from month to month.

It's been this way for years. The only way to get money out of the Giants is to already be a Giant. Once you are you're set for life with vast over payment.

Of course not, cause he hasn't even upgraded the fu**ing starters! what does he mean the fu**ing bench. It isn't gonna matter if he doesn't upgrade the offense who plays 150 games a year.

Only times Giants open the checkbook is when they are in contention and acquire a high salary player. Unfortunately the team will likely be out of contention by July if this roster doesn't change.

Isn't it awfully early for Sabean to make statements like this? If there's one thing Sabean can actually accomplish, it's finding bench/bullpen options really cheap as the Winter fades.

Improving the bench by acquiring new starters to move superior players to the bench isn't really improving the bench, either (see Morse vs. Blanco).

How much of it is Sabean's fault? I'm sure his boss tells him this is how much you have to work with. Gm's don't have the power like they once had where they can do their job with little interference from the bosses or owners. I know Colletti gets blamed for everything but McCourt was responsible for the majority of it. People would complain about the contracts but he would have to give a few more years and dollars because McCourt was depleting the farm.

With that 2nd wild card the giants will stay in competition for a while.

I defend the fact that he's still won us 2 championships and my memory isn't that short. However, I think it's messed up that he's pointed out that our lack of depth cost us this year and we're looking to add depth... and now he's saying it costs too much. Supply and demand Sabean, you should have known that going into the offseason before you started saying we'd improve our depth.
