    2014 Projected Lineup

IF again IF Cano resigns now that the talks with the M's have stalled, and Arod is not suspended or returns from suspension. The lineup looks pretty damn good.

    1.Ellsbury CF
    2. Jeter SS
    3. Cano 2B
    4. Texiera 1B
    5. Arod 3B
    6. McCann C
    7. Soriano DH
    8. Ichiro/Wells RF
    9. Gardner LF

If we don't resign Cano and Arod is suspended for the whole year. This lineup doesnt look to good at all!

    1. Ellsbury CF
    2. Jeter SS
    3. Texiera 1B
    4. Soriano DH
    5. McCann C
    6. Ichiro/Wells RF
    7. Kelly Johnson/ Nunez 2B
    8. Brendan Ryan/ Nunez 3B
    9. Gardner LF

    Thoughts?

Way too early for this. The winter meetings start Monday, Cano still up in the air...etc A lot could happen.

    Thanks JR!

If Cano doesn't sign, which he will, they will bring in another big bat so lineup 2 is void.

    Lineup 1 is lovely.

Its just food for thought for now. I know alot could happen, but why not just have some fun with it.

Lineup 1 looks fantastic on paper, but it's just so filled with age. Has massive potential, but a lot is gonna have to go right.

As far as alternatives for Cano, i'm not buying that we are only going to make free agent signings. Anyone else get the vibe that a big trade could be coming?

    If Cano doesn't re-sign...

    CF Ellsbury (L)
    SS Jeter (R)
    1B Teixeira (S)
    DH Kendry Morales (S)
    C McCann (L)
    RF Soriano (R)
    3B Johnson (L)/Reynolds (R)
    LF Gardner (L)
    2b Mark Ellis (R)

Very good lineup IMO. Not elite but a more than acceptable. Plus that puts us in positions to be able to stay under the luxury tax.

If we do re-sign Cano, we're going to have to go over the luxury tax just to fill out the roster. And if we go even a little over we don't get the reset in our tax rate so we might as well spend big and stay over. If we get Cano go out and add another bat on top of that (Beltran is still my favorite).

if cano and arod are both gone, a deal will likely be made for another bat. maybe they pull the trigger on headly

Not sold on Morales however Beltran and Morales would be nice adding 2 switch hitters with some pop to the lineup.

I'd let Nunez play 2b and see what he can do until the trade deadline. And bring in someone with a bat to play third.
