Gamethread: New York Knicks @ Brookyln Nets - The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

    Thursday Dec 5
    @
    7:00 PM ET
    Barclays Center

    Your New York Knicks!

Chef Ray Ray / JR Spliff / Iman Shumpert / Carmelo Anthony / Primo Pasta

    Brooklyn Nets

Shaun Livingston / Joe Johnson / Alan Anderson / Kevin Garnett / Brook Lopez

    Knick Updates

J.R. Smith (sore knee) is expected to play on Thursday despite sitting out portions of Wednesday's practice.
Marc Berman of the New York Post speculates that a "blowout loss" to the Nets on Thursday "could trigger changes -- whether via trade or a coaching move."
The Knicks are riding a nine-game losing streak and they've dropped seven straight at home, and Berman opines that a loss to rival Brooklyn may push owners James Dolan to the breaking point. Jeff Van Gundy and Lionel Hollins are mentioned as possible replacement coaches if Woodson is indeed fired mid-season, but we'll reiterate that this is pure rumor and speculation.

J.R. Smith: "They were pretty much scoring at will. Especially my guy. I don't know what the hell I was doing on defense."

The value of elite scoring ability, by Phil Jackson:

"This is a guy, we recognize his talent, and his skill is the kind of skill and talent that gets you through playoff games where things get sticky, grind-out, and basketball becomes a force game and suddenly you need to have a player who has the capabilities of scoring with someone hanging on them in a situation thatís critical. Heís one of those players, one of the few players who can do that.Ē

I would call it the Panic bowl, whoever loses will see some changes, actually Lawrence Frank was already demoted, it'll be the Knicks staff members who might lose their job.

The first NBA game to ever have both teams lose.
Dolan and Proky each race down off their golden throne to the court to literally fire Woodson and Kidd on the spot.
TNT gives an open apology for the smut they just showed on National TV.
Barkley says the N word and National TV and says Sowwy.

    So says JerZ

If you can't laugh at the absurdity of it all, you're taking it WAY too seriously.

I'm already passed the point of depression and into acceptance. It's just high comedy right now... kind of like watching a slow motion train wreck. You want to look away, but you just can't tear your eyes away.

The whole Dolan/Knicks saga plays like Greek frikken tragedy.

Think about it, the Knicks fan base is some of the most rabid and loyal fans in the NBA. Yet for some reason the "Gods" have deigned to subject us to this horrific season.

To quote the great Smoky Robinson...

People say I'm the life of the party
Because I tell a joke or two
Although I might be laughing loud and hearty
    Deep inside I'm blue

So take a good look at my face
You'll see my smile looks out of place
If you look closer, it's easy to trace
    The tracks of my tears...

I have a feeling that the Nets are going to get way more calls than us and go yo the free throw line way more than us.

If the game gets ugly early I can see the Knicks giving up in Woodson knowing he will probably get canned.

As much as I would love to see Woodson go, I would rather see my team play as a team and do well.

I've always said if this team is going to win anything it would be despite Woodson not because of him.

This could get ugly. I have a feeling Anderson is going to light us up tonight. I hope this is the game where we turn things around, but I won't be surprised if it's not.
