Kobe contract was bad enough but this would destroy us for 10 years... and it looks like this is becoming more and more possible. The absolute worst move we could make would be to get Carmelo. That will ruin us for 10 years!! I'd rather do nothing with the money than get him. He is a team destroyer.
Imagine Melo as a number 2 option.. Who do the opposing defenses double? Kobe or Melo?
That's what I'm saying. If he embraces the number 2 role then maybe it could work. I wouldn't feel comfortable with him being our clear number 1 option, obviously, but if he could reel back his offensive game and focus on D more, then it could work. But once Kobe retires, I'd want someone else to match up with Carmelo so we had a better chance of contending.
Who's irrational? I'm extremely logical. 10 years of watching Melo gives me data to support my opinion. Offer more than your lame comment. Yes, Melo can score... so? He is a chemistry destroyer and ball stopper.
Phil could do something with Melo but that's about the only person who could.
I put Melo in the Iverson, Webber, Mcgrady category. There are players that get you close but will never never get you over the top. I'd take 3 solid players with that salary over him.
Some observations over that last few years...
Pau and Hill are good enough to let Howard walk = Got blasted for that, so much happier without Coward
Kobe could play point guard = got anniliated for that, then he showed how good he could be
Don't play Nash and Blake together = Not much feedback
Stop playing Shawne Williams = Most agree
I hope that this doesn't happen for all our sakes... and yes, I think it's that big of a deal
