Like it or not...i do believe alderson will get nelson cruz

Given the loss of Peralta, the sticker shock on Choo and Ellsbury and the added pressure of making a major move. Cruz appears to be the most affordable of the the 3. Also considering that now that Peralta is out of the picture, he needs legit power. Not from 2 spots, but from one. He will make the big splash on Nelson Cruz, this may turn out to be Sandy's Waterloo. I hope that is not too antiquated of a term, but he needs to make a bold move, and big gesture and just live or die with the consequences of it. I think if he goes ahead and does this, it could turn out to be the best off season move, and just may save his ***.

I dont want Nelson Cruz in a Mets uni. I suspect he is a lifetime juicer.
"The 90 wins is about challenge. It's about changing the conversation. It's about framing questions for ourselves as to how we get there. So I stand by the notion that we need to get better, and in doing so we need to set concrete goals for ourselves so that we have sort of specific conversations among ourselves about how we're going to get there." -- Mr. Alderson

But he is at the point right now, where he has little choice, but to make a big gesture. Like it or not. I think this will happen.

PEDs aside, I don't really want him. I see far too many negatives and not that many positives.

I have serious concerns with him, but imo the good outweigh the bad.

Less concerns than someone like Drew though who is 2 years younger and without the PED history?

I think he will hit and hit for power even off the roids. The injuries are a concern though.

It's not so much the power that worries me, it's the rest of his game, injury history, age, and PEDs that scare me off. PEDs don't only affect power numbers, it affects recovery and athleticism as well. I wouldn't go over 3 years, and even 3 years scare me. Hitters like Cruz don't seem to decline well.

Like I said, I have my concerns, but I would not mind signing him. Obviously cost and years need to be alright and not exaggerated, but again I rather sign Choo because of the concerns I have.

We have about $25m left to spend.

    -Choo: 6/108 ($18)
    -Hughes: 2/14 ($7)

Ike/Duda and/or Murph and/or pitching prospects traded to fill a need at SS. Whoever is left between Ike or Duda platoons at first with Satin, 2B is either Murph (if not traded), or Young, Jr. or Flores. Scrapheap pickups at SP, RP.

Hey, this still puts you up against that self-imposed salary cap but at least this way you improve the roster long-term. Chris Young isn't doing **** to help us in that way, besides hoping and praying to get the next Vic Black out of him at the deadline.

I'd rather have Granderson at $14 per, Infrante at $10 per, trade Murphy and put EYJ at 2nd, and Hughes/Arroyo at $8 per

    EYJ
    Infante
    Wright
    Davis
    Granderson
    Young
    D'Arnaud
    Lagares

    Neise
    Wheeler
    Arroyo
    Gee
    ?

I wouldn't give Granderson more than three years, judging from the contract Peralta just received it's looking like Granderson will get at least 15 million AAV for four years. I'd rather sign Choo if this is the case.

I hope so. He can hit at least.

However, I think we will go the trade route for a OF.

Sorry LOL, don't even know how to get rid of it. Somehow I wound up posting both drafts.
