    Good deal for the Indians.

Murphy's a good player coming off of a poor season. Buy low.

I would fully expect Murphy to bounce back from his horrid BABIP and he is still a solid glove.

Good pick up by the Tribe, especially at that price.

Yeah should be a solid pickup for that contract. Not much discrepancy between his home and road stats which doesn't make him a sole product of the Ballpark in Arlington and their hitter friendly park factors.

If he produces 1 WAR or so a season, he'll earn his money.

I was hoping the Giants would get him to platoon.

Wouldn't mind him in T.O. for that price.

David Murphy was 44-for-165 when hitting a ground ball in 2012.

He was 28-for-166 when hitting a ground ball in 2013.
    I get 27 - 163 (.166) in 2013 and 44 - 168 (.262) in 2012 via FanGraphs, but, same idea.

If he had hit for the same rate of hits on ground balls (all singles) in 2013 as 2012 Murphy's overall line in 2013 would have been .257/.316/.411 instead of .220/.282/.374. That would have been about a .317 wOBA which would have been about a 93 wRC+ which would have been about -4 batting runs. As was, Murphy had -14 batting runs. Those 16 extra singles would have made Murphy worth about 1 more WAR - 1.5 WAR player instead of a 1 WAR player.

Huh, interesting. I'm a little curious about the Rangers OF situation now.

Leonys Martin will be one starter.

Craig Gentry may be another starter. I'm very high on him. He's excellent defensively, but might not hit right-handed pitching well enough to be an every day guy.

Alex Rios may be back. The Q/O will hurt his value to other teams. But, he's not that good anyway.

The Rangers have the Andrus/Kinsler/Profar/Moreland situation. One of those guys could end up as an outfielder, either by player there or by trade.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Decent pickup for the Indians here. Murphy's a good hand to have in the lineup.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: 5-8, games this week vs. Chicago White Sox (3), Baltimore (3)
Indianapolis Colts: 11-5, 2013 AFC South Champs, great season guys.
Looking for new NBA team to cheer for
Ottawa Senators: 37-31-14, season over, good effort guys.

Pretty thin... The combination of Rios/Martin are there for the 2014. Both will return for the 2015 season if their option/ARB III are taken up (I believe Leonys will have 5 years, so the sixth would automatically convert to an ARB III season). The other Texas OF'er are throwins and replacement level guys. The Rangers farm system has a couple of OF'er coming, but they're two or three or four years away (Brinson/Beras).. not a great situation for the Rangers..

But a trade is possible.. The Cardinals and Rangers could swap former MLB OVERALL # 1 prospects (Profar for Taveras).. then the problems for both clubs are solved.. I'm sure both sides will want to say the other needs to add someone to make it equitable.. should be a blazin hot stove by the time the snow flies...

Dirty Murph should be used properly by Tito.. not as a strict platoon..but in that direction.. Murph should probably start every home game, regardless of who's pitching.. He loves Progressive Field...or, at least his stats say he does..
