Say bye bye to Murphy, he is as good as gone

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/met...xed-santa-role
NEW YORK -- Watch out, Daniel Murphy. You're getting an honor that often leads to your departure.

Murphy has been booked to play Santa Claus on Dec. 17 at Citi Field, at the Mets' annual holiday party for local schoolchildren.

For years, playing Santa Claus for the Mets was the last step before getting traded or suffering some serious injury. Just ask past Santas including Kris Benson, John Maine, Mike Cameron and Jeff Francoeur.

Last year, R.A. Dickey was traded days after attending the holiday party.

Zack Wheeler, by the way, will serve as Murphy's elf/sidekick.

It's almost like they do it on purpose at this point. Murphy is a prime trade candidate.

God dammit. I thought something interesting was happening.
If Trump can become president with no political background then I don't understand why I need a resumé

5 years from now we'll hear stories about Murphy's wife going nuts and attacking him with a baton.

    Poor bastard.

    Don't worry. He's got this.

Hey, did it ever occur to you that some guys might enjoy that sort of thing?

Uh...gross FoC. I mean, I know you've been married for a long time and all and the same ol', same ol' has got to be getting boring...but keep that in your own bedroom.

If it brings back a solid bat in the OF, why do you have a problem with this? Especially when the Mets have major league hitters who could play 2B?

Yep, he's definitely on the trading block. I'll miss him, because he's one of my favorites. But, we are in dire straits for OF help.
