Tigers/ Brad Ausmus add Wally Joyner and Mick Billmeyer to Staff

Jason Beck of MLB.com reports that Mick Billmeyer has been named the Tigers bullpen coach.
Billmeyer had been a coach in the Phillies organization for the past 10 seasons, serving as the bullpen coach and catching instructor since 2008. The 49-year-old was dismissed after the 2013 season.
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Wally Joyner will be named as the Tigers hitting coach.
It was reported earlier in the afternoon by Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly that Joyner was leaving the Phillies organization where he served as an assistant hitting coach in 2013. Joyner is a former teammate of Tigers skipper Brad Ausmus.

Pleasantly surprised with the addition of Joyner. Don't know anything about Billmeyer but Wally was definitely a name I was hoping for to replace Lloyd.

No Latino coaches yet, despite having the highest number of Latinos on the roster in 2013.

LFLOL brings up a good point. In this joke, is there any thought that we should give the starting 2B job to Perez (due to speed and defensive range), bring in a stud corner outfielder, most likely LF, that can preferably hit in one of the top two spots (I am thinking someone like Ellsbury) and when V Mart leaves in 2015 Castellanos becomes your starting 3B with Cabrera playing 1B most of the time with Fielder moving to the DH spot most of the time?

Ausmus seems to be an out of the box thinker and like MWG mentioned before...most managers would not even dream about starting two young guys in the middle of the diamond for a World Series contending team...thoughts?

Castellanos is a noticeably worse 3B than Miguel Cabrera. He is similar to what we saw with Eric Munson, Ryan Raburn and Wilson Betemit @ 3B..... butt-ugly.

Take what Lynn Henning says with a grain of salt. No Tigers exec has ever stated the Nick-move to outfield was temporary. Castellanos is still a work-in-progress in LF. Right now, he plays to the level of Delmon Young out there, rather than what we normally see from Dirks and Kelly there.

Nick will be serviceable in LF for 2014..... nothing more. Hopefully in another year, he become overall league-average. If he ever moves back to 3B, expect 22-25 errors per season.

No way he is worse than Cabrera. Only thing Cabrera has going for him is his arm otherwise this experiment at 3B would have ended a long time ago. He is bottom of the league defensively.
