IGT: Edmonton Oilers at Philadelphia Flyers

    Time: 1:00pm
    Place: Wells Fargo Center

    Game Notes:
    - Oilers come in giving up most GPG in league
    - Flyers come in scoring the fewest GPG in league
    - I'm sure the FOs of both teams will pay very close attention to this game

I'm at the game. Someone is paying Giroux to not score. I swear.

Anyone have an update? I can see the score, but how do they look? Also what is the deal with trying to injure G?

    happy for G

we almost lost this game ... mason was huge

luke schenn is putrid, and brayden is replaceable ... i still think we need a shakeup because this was rocky, great to win though

G was amazing today. Aside from his big turnover, he had his regular G game.

Coburn was phenominal. All the guys skated hard today. Mason was great again.

They took advantage of a bad defensive team today. Now the challenge will be to keep it up.

L Schenn was the worst I've seen him. Absolutely awful.

Giroux was a monster. Created tons of chances for himself and for his teammates. His goal was great, too. By far his best game of the year.

Vinny played well. His goal was an absolute snipe. I have no idea how he picked the corner from that angle and that close. Incredible goal.

Mason was his usual self. Composed and made the key saves when he needed to. He was...A-Mason-g....see what I did there?

Back to Luke Schenn. I cannot believe how bad he played. He just stands still out there and looks lost. He can't make quick decisions. He is literally only hurting this team while he's on the ice.

Can the Schenn's be moved for a scoring winger? Just keep Meszaros for the year unless were blowin away by the offer.

I would much rather move them for a #1 DMAN.

Hindsight sucks sometimes. Those were good trades at the time. The only issue was that we traded for potential.

Look you live and you learn. It happens sometimes when you trade for potential. Sometimes you get burned, sometimes it works out. You never know. Should the Flyers end up trading Luke or Brayden or both, they could end up breaking out with their next team, and people will be screaming and yelling about that, too.

It's part of the business. Both trades were good at the time, as you said. Schenn was considered LEAGUE-WIDE to be one of the best young prospects in the game. He has shown flashes but overall hasn't lived up to the bill to this point. Simmonds has turned in 2 highly productive years as a Flyer; this year has been a struggle so far, but who hasn't struggled to this point on this team? JVR was next to useless as a Flyer. He had one good playoff run, and the rest of his time here was full of frustration and disappointment. It was a change of scenery trade for both teams involved; to this point it just appears that TOR won the deal. It happens.

This team this year needs JVR much more than they need Richards, I think that's pretty evident.

Oh well. No sense crying over spilled milk.

That is true. I was for the trades when they happened.
