    Westbrook won't be back.

    1.) Wainwright
    2.) Miller
    3.) Wacha
    4.) Garcia
    5.) Kelly vs Lynn

I wouldn't mind getting a cheap 5th starter in FA and putting both Kelly and Lynn in the bull-pen.

    1. Wacha will be the number 2

    2. Westbrook is long gone

    3. You have a ton of guys that can pitch as starters. Rosenthall, Kelly, Garcia, Lyons, Gast, etc.

    I think rotation is

    1. Wainwright
    2. Wacha
    3. Miller
    4. Lynn
    5. Open competition between Garcia (if healthy), Rosenthall, Maness, Lyons, Gast, Martinez, Kelly, etc etc etc.

There is no need to add any starters, and thank God, Westbrook is long gone. We could trade a guy or two for a SS though.

After watching how disgustingly awful Kozma is, we need to get a SS

I don't think Tulo is a realistic option. Colorado doesn't want to move him and if they change their mind, it would be at too great a cost. I would like Stephen Drew. Not sure if much else will be available. I also wouldn't mind Wong, if that were possible.

    STARTERS

    Wainright
    Wacha
    Miller
    Garcia
    Lynn

    LONG RELIEF

    Kelly

    MIDDLE/LEFTY SPECIALISTS

    Siegrist
    Mannes
    Choate

    SET-UP/CLOSER

    Axford
    Martinez
    Rosenthal

I could see Martinez starting in Memphis and being in the starting rotation for the inevitable injury. Leaving one spot for trade, or release. Not sure where Motte will fit in. I think Mujica is gone...should be an interesting off season. How soon will Gast be back? He will obviously be another factor or trade.

cardinals are for sure trading for a short stop this offseason. i think it will be cabrera from the indians. a lot available i think though.

If we are signing, i could see us giving drew or jhonny peralta available. we have the spot available and the money to go get one if we want.

    in terms of trade?
    rollins?
    desmond?
    hardy?
    gregorious?
    alexei remirez?
    andrus?

i think you will see the cardinals be very aggressive in their run at a short stop. we wont give up the farm for a guy like tulo, but we will go forward with a good short stop option.

    1. offer beltran qualifying offer (he should go to AL so he can DH some). get team that signs him first round pick.
    2. trade freese for a few B level prospects. Maybe one B and one C. not sure exactly what his stock is right now.
    3. Slide Carpenter to 3B. Wong at 2B.
    4. Trade for a shortstop (cabrera). I think trading Lynn is a good option here. He is a solid starter, but we have a glut at SP and he is going to get paid soon more than he is worth. value is as high as i think it will get so trade while stock is high.
    5. move craig to right. adams at first.
    6. competition for center field between tavaras and john jay

    C: Catcher
    1B: Adams
    2B: Wong
    SS: Trade
    3B: Carpenter
    LF: Holliday
    CF: Tavaras (hopefully)
    RF: Craig

    1: Wainwright
    2: Wacha
    3. Miller
    4. Garcia (depending on health)
    5. Lynn/Kelly/Gast/Lyons/Rosenthal/Martinez/etc

If I'm Moz, this is probably what the rotation would look like for next season

    1. Wainwright
    2. Wacha
    3. Miller
    4. Lynn
    5. Garcia

6th man and long man out of the pen
    Joe Kelly

    Closer
    Rosenthall

    Set up
    Martinez and Motte

    Loogies
    Choate and Siegrist

    Bullpen righties
    Maness and Butler

    I love Butler (personally)

Mujica is gone. I would tell Martinez and Rosenthall to prepare themselves to compete for a rotation spot in ST. And if they can somehow be better than Lynn, Garcia, and Kelly, and look like they can sustain velocity after 75+ pitches, then I would give them a rotation spot.

If they can't beat out Lynn, Garcia, Kelly, then Rosie is the closer and Martinez is a set up man with Motte and then they can try for a rotation spot again the following year.

The only pitcher I would consider trading would be Lynn, and that's only if we can land a shortstop or a nice long term asset for him. Otherwise, I am happy keeping him.

I don't trust Kelly as much as everyone else. I do think he can be good for us, but I don't see him as a long term starter for us. I like him as the 6th starter, the guy who gets starts when guys get hurt (Garcia again?) and could easily get plenty of starts...as he is the first guy to get a start that you carry in the bullpen in that event.

Then in Memphis, you have Gast and Lyons that if either Loogy gets hurt, or you have multiple injuries, then you have guys ready to step up.

Additional guys you will begin to hear about that will probably be in Memphis and could even see a 2014 call up

    Tim Cooney
    Boone Whiting
Dixon Llorens (might reach Memphis in 2014, look for him in 2015)
    Lee Stoppleman (as a reliever)

Zero reason to add any pitching outside of the organization or to retain Mujica, the only guy leaving. You could potentially trade from some of this depth if you can improve at short or even center (although I think center will be fine).

This is how I would stack up the rotation. Guys I would consider moving would be Freese (def), Jay (probably not), and Lynn (need to be an improvement). I would look to move Freese this post-season certainly. I think you keep Jay and offer Beltran the QO (he won't take it) and then let Craig take right, Adams first, and let Taveras come up in June with Jay still in center, and when Taveras comes up, Jay, Adams, and Craig all take turns getting days off. Taveras starts in center twice a week with Jay on the bench. Taveras starts in right twice, with Craig going to first for one of them and getting a day off on the other (maybe against a hard righty) and then Craig starting at first another two times with Taveras still in right.

Everybody plays, but Taveras plays every day....and if Taveras, Craig, and Adams show you they are healthy, then you can move Jay next off-season when his arb clock starts to matter.

So, I would be looking to move Freese for a shortstop, my target would be JJ Hardy and the O's who could easily move Machado to short, his natural and better position.

Drew is going to get a qualifying offer and will be looking for a multi-year deal. For someone who isn't terribly consistent, I wouldn't go after him unless there was no QO, and he would take a 1 year, like 7-10 million dollar deal, and we know he won't so it doesn't matter.

But that's the direction I would take things.

Forgot about Axford. I think he's a good non-tender candidate. But if he would take a 1 year/3 million kind of deal, I would certainly take him for 2014.
