    Scouting Profile

Hinojosa is 6'2", 210 pounds. At 27, he's a year older than Gonzalez (allegedly), and actually has a relatively high profile on the interational scene. Twice he thrown perfect games in international competition, though both were less than nine innings. The first was a seven-inning affair against Sri-Lanka in the 2010 World University Chamionships, in which Dailer struck out 16 of the 21 batters he faced. The second was against Hong Kong in the 2010 Intercontinental Cup, and lasted only five innings. Both games seem to have been ended via the mercy rule, a decent reminder that no matter how bad Gerardo Concepcion is, Cuba still plays at a really high level compared to the rest of the world. Hinojosa allegedly throws a fastball in the low-to-mid 90s along with a slider, curve, and change.

Don't know anything about him. Can't really go wrong at 4 mil though, I am sure he is more/as likely to make it as a draft pick at 4 mil is.

A draft pick at $4M is a top pick in the first round. That's around what the Twins gave Kohl Stewart at pick #4. I'm surprised by the money. When I saw the signing yesterday he sounded like a reliever, possibly borderline major leaguer, I dismissed it as something like $400K. $4M is a lot for a reliever with no MLB success, they must think of him as a SP

RP's are always a crap shoot (or any P actually), but the Sox have been pretty high percentage - outside of closers that is since BC came on board.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

Hmm 4mil seems like a lot at first glance.

Its not our money so who are we to complain? As a yankees fan I hope he does well so it could kick **** into the Yankees scouting and push them to sign more international players, and I really like it when players are scouted from other countries come over and perform.

It is all part of a budget. Say if he busts, that is a waste of 4 mil that could of been spent somewhere else.

No one's really complaining, no one should complain because we don't know anything about this gut. I just thought it was odd. Like I said earlier, when I saw the signing yesterday I gave it no thought. Figured it was little money for a guy that would probably be a AAAA player. $4M says they think he is a major league pitcher.

His slurve has a lot of funky action. His fastball is subjective and a little flat. But to be honest, why not. They missed on Abreu though they only went to $40 million. 68M, PFFT! Take another arm and add it to the system.
