Since The Season Is Over....lol...Mock Offseason

    Day off, bored.

    Free Agents

    Restricted Free Agents

    M. D. Jennings ($555k)
    Jamari Lattimore ($556k)

    Unrestricted Free Agents

    Marshall Newhouse ($1.3M)
    Sam Shields ($2M)
    Evan Dietrich-Smith ($1.3M)
    Jermichael Finley ($8.7M)
    Rob Francois ($725k)
    Johnny Jolly ($715k)
    James Jones ($3.7M)
    John Kuhn ($2.5M)
    Mike Neal ($920k)
    Ryan Pickett ($6.7M)
    Andrew Quarless ($1.3M)
    B. J. Raji ($6.5M)
    C. J. Wilson ($642k)
    Seneca Wallace ($555k)
    James Starks ($655k)

Resign (These numbers are totally off the top of my head and indicate the per salary amount I'd pay. Don't ***** about it, I'm not a salary cap guy, just spit balling).

    Banjo-Minimum (He's ERFA)

MD Jennings ($1 mil). To hopefully be the THIRD safety

    Lattimore ($1 mil)

    Shields - 6 mil

EDS - One year for what he gets now

    Francois - 1 mil

Jones - similar deal as now

BJ Raji - On a far better deal than we first expected.

Pickett - like 2-3 mil. Shorter deal.

    Let Walk
Newhouse-I'm guessing, hoping, Sherrod is our swing tackle next year

Finley - Time to move on

Neal - worth more to someone else

Quarless - We can keep but he seems pretty damned replaceable to me.

    Seneca- Bye

    Starks - Bye

CJ Wilson - replaced by mid pick.

    2014 Free Agency -

    QB Matt Flynn

    Some random TE.

    2014 Draft.

    Round 1 -

    Kyle Van Noy OLB/DE/ILB BYU

This is too easy. I know this might get poo poo'd for the fact we have Perry and Clay but you can never have enough pass rushers. No reason we can't get all three on the field a lot and this is HUGE insurance for injuries. Clay and Perry are out right now.

Anyways. Instincts, athleticism, football IQ, intensity, pass rushing, play making ability. I think he could play inside a lot honestly. Not some stud in coverage but fast enough and would be a nasty blitzer from there.

Round 2 - Eric Ebron TE UNC

Supreme athlete at TE who is a good football player. What else is there to say? Great Finley replacement and probable upgrade

Round 3 - Traded For Jairus Byrd who is on the franchise tag (I Think he can be tagged again, if not pretend we do this tomorrow then). Signed to a deal like Goldson got.

Round 3 Comp - I doubt we get a 3rd for Jennings but I'm doing it anyways

    WR Jared Abbrederis

Nothing to say. Everyone knows him. Makes sense all the way around.

Round 4 - Trey Millard FB

    Bye Kuhn.

    Round 5 - Dri Archer RB/WR/Slotback/RS/CB

If you don't know this cat, get your boner pants on and load up some YouTube video.

For starters, he's small, and he's also hurt right now.

BUT, he's waterbug quick and 4.2 fast.

    Check out his Jr stats.

1500 yards. 16 TDs. NINE yards per carry.

    Tack on 39 receptions.

Now get this. 36.5 yards per KICK RETURN.

Shotgun RB, 5th WR, gadget player, Sproles Jr, kick return extraordinaire.

End the madness of no reliable return man on kicks and give us a really good one who could be explosive on offense.

Round 6 Hakeem Smith S Louisville

Round 7 Jonotthan Harrison C Florida

Too lazy to type a depth chart right now.

I love your first two picks. That'd be one of the best first two picks in round 1 and 2 I've ever seen as far as my opinion goes on draft day. As of right now anyway. I just posted the other day about both these guys. Van Noy went off last week. One of the best defensive performances I've personally watched live in quite awhile. I called you and Ebron last week also. Just had that feeling you know? He is my favorite TE right now in this coming draft.

Back to what I was saying about best round 1 and 2 picks. As a Packers fan that has to be Rodgers and Collins. At least in recent memory.

You forgot a mid-round D-Line guy to replace Wilson... Had to be the guy.

Yeah, Dick. The guy above me is right. Your whole post becomes worthless now that you contradicted yourself. What a worthless waste of my time.

I'd be interested to see if GB actually replaces Kuhn with another FB or just roles with an extra TE considering they seem to really like to play a TE in the H-back role. This years its more common to see a TE in the backfield than a FB. In general TE's are still really good blockers but more athletic and versatile from a scheming standpoint. I actually expect there to not be a FB on the roster next year if Kuhn is gone.

I mean, that is what I said I guess.

I could see Ryan Taylor taking that role over.

As a whole I like the mock. I agree with the "never having enough pass rushers" comment. Its what made the Ravens and Steelers 34 last so long.

I can definitely live with (2) 3rds for Bryd. Heck of a deal there.

I personally don't think it would take two 3rd's. The rumors I've seen involve much less than that anyway. That is quite a bit to ask for a player that will also be asking for the contract he will. Especially considering it could end up being a short term rental.

Heh, got me. After I got into it I looked and liked the numbers at DL for the time being and skipped it

You know how Gonzo came along then we saw Gates then Gronk, Hernandez, Graham, Julius Thomas, Jordan Cameron, etc etc.

Trey Millard is that guy. For fullbacks.

    That's why he's in there.

FWIW our staff has shown they'll keep even 3 fullbacks. I'm not going as far as to say we'll have none and we've drafted two under Ted.

    I only gave one third

Anyways, that was just an easy move to make because I didn't make safety fit and a sexy little addition.

No the other guy said (2) 3rd's. Not you. Check this out, its pretty cool. If you look above my post you will see this little section in a little blue bubble. That is the comment I'm responding to. If you look really close you will see a name in it. That is the person I'm responding to.

Yeah I know but he said I can definitely live with 2 thirds, like that's what I was saying. I was actually directing at him.

It sounded like that's what I had said, I'm GUESSING he meant he would even do 2 thirds.

...which I would not do personally.

I like Byrd but he's going to what top level S money. Is he worth it? Maybe. But we'd also have to give something up. We chose not to draft a S in the draft. Seems we aren't that concerned.

I'd almost rather give up a lower pick on the franchise tag and let him see if he's worth the deal if you feel like he's interested in coming here.

Plus he's holding out...isn't he? So he's probably a douche.
You know ... I hate to be that guy but ... :P

haha jk good mock bro. Love Abbe and how you attacked this draft. The Final 53 looks Super Bowl bound :P

It was just a lazy move after I didn't take a safety first two rounds. I don't really know jack about this safety class to be perfectly honest.

I figured it would make it look pretty if nothing else.

Just was something for me to do when I was bored after work. Heh.

Just curious Norm.... I'm all for Byrd (went to my high school) but how do you expect to afford him?

With the money we save by cutting Tramon Williams and what looks to be a more affordable contract for B.J. Raji then what we initially expected. Also the fact that the Packers have 10+ Million in cap right now gives us an extra 10 million to spend next year and last but not least this isn't confirmed but it's either next season or the 2015 Season the Salary cap is expected to take a major leap due to TV Revenues coming into play. The former being the main points but the latter having a part to do with it for the future.
