    PSD's Top 10 Goalies: #1

Lists are everywhere. Comparisons between countries, this, that. Let's make a list. Each thread will be open for one day-ish. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

After you vote, nominate a goaltender to join the list.

#1 should be obvious, but whatever.

How much do people think Lundqvist will get if he hits the open market next year?

Well in a market where Crawford gets 6.....he could get 8 pretty easily methinks.
You need centerman that can play two ways and if they donít play two ways in the end, you canít win, because the guy you are counting on canít get himself on the right side of the puck enough. So sure he can score, he can score but his team loses every night, I didnít know that was the objective. I thought winning was the objective. So if you centers canít play down the middle, and canít play without the puck, you have no chance.

Okay I can see some sort of argument for Jonathan Quick although I have two goaltenders over him for sure but Antti Niemi? I want to hear reasoning on that one.

I went with Quick. 9 times out of 10 I'll choose Hank, but from what I've seen so far this season Hank has been pretty awful. I realize that his team has been abysmal, but he just hasn't looked good at all so far. My usual 1a-1b is:

    1a Hank
    1b Quick

right now I'm trending the other way. I'm sure once the Rangers get their new system figured out Hank will rebound in a big way though.

You're basing this off of 4 games....?

So, to avoid a double standard here, you would have to take Tavares over Giroux right?

How good would lunqvist be without the leading shot blocker (Girardi), Ryan McDonagh, Michael Del Zotto, and Marc Staal? You gave any average goalie that D and it'd make them look elite. Same with Quick, he's surrounded by top defenders also.

Or are those goalies so good that it allows the defense to get a little more aggressive? I hate the argument of the defense in front of a goalie. Look at Quick in LA, no one talked about how good that defense was. Then all the sudden the have a monster playoff win the cup and people say they have a great defense. Does an great defense help a goalie? yes, but a great goalie also helps a defense.
