Game 4 would most likely be Moore on three days rest, game 5 would be Price on normal rest. I am scared of the Rays.

The rotation is going to have to step up. The Moore game is big.

Bring on the rays. This is our year. The only way we lose this series is if our starting pitchers in Lester, Lackey, Bucholz, and peavy pitch like sh. You get the point.

Can't agree. The Sox first 4 hitters are pretty solid vs top pitching, but the the bottom 5 are vulnerable - very much so. If the Rays hurlers avoid throwing balls/walking that lower group, the amount of runs we are going to score is going to be limited.

The way to beat the Rays is to get into the pen. If those starters average 7 IP per game, we are in deep trouble.

If we win the whole thing I would guess now that we'd look back at this as the toughest Series.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

I have to agree with some of the statements around here. The Rays starting pitching is really good. This is the match up I would have like to have the seen the Red Sox avoid. Darn the Rangers and Indians.

It's going to be a long series if the Red Sox can't get to the Rays starters and allow them to get deep into the games. I refuse to watch Fernando Rodney do the whole bow and arrow thing (after he gives up two hits, walks a batter, and escapes a bases loaded jam) in Fenway Park or in that silo that the Rays play in.

I predict that the Red Sox will win in 4 or 5.

I like the Red Soxs in 3 games. I know the Rays play us tough, I know the past. Call it a hunch. I think game #1 will be the toughest, but I see us moving on in short order.

I know the layoff, I know the Rays have been rolling, but the Red Soxs are the better TEAM and have set themselfs up nicely.

Ortiz is having a rough year vs lefties as well. Price is the most difficult matchup we could face, except perhaps Kershaw. Game 1 feels like a must win, otherwise we have to beat Price once. Beating Price is going to likely require a terrific pitching performance by Lackey or Lester.

If the offense is on their game we should be able to grind out Moore and Cobb. Moore did great against us this year, but it never felt like he was in total control like Price. He's vulnerable, and his command is shaky.

Farrell says Gomes will start vs the Rays lefties in G1 and G2, with Ross and Saltalamacchia likely splitting the first two games at catcher

Yeah, you can't be too afraid of a starter who walks 4.5 batters per nine innings. Gotta be patient against him.

Lester vs TB in 2013: .280/.339/.490
Lackey vs TV in 2013: .388/.423/.592

Price vs BOS in 2013: .167/.186/.289
Moore vs BOS in 2013: .102/.170/.204

    That's fun....

Game 4 is Archer and then Price or Moore would start game 5 if there were one.

I think you guys can pull off a win against Moore, he has been a little wild and Yankees would and should have knocked him around last week if they had some real hitting.

Everyone in that rotation has been pitching like an ace for the rays, aside from Hellickson. Will be an interesting series to watch.
