It'd be nice if he scored a few power play goals this year.

I think a big part of his success was having a second line that can score. Chicago has it. Pittsburgh has it. etc. When Vancouver did not there was literally no secondary scoring and teams would straight up put their best defensive forwards against these guys each shift. Taking advtange of the home-ice change and a second line scoring threat could go a long way.

Here's something. I predicted Ryan Kesler to play over 70 games and put up 45 points-ish, which is not good for him. The Sedin's need to punch in 80+.

Yep, second line scoring is the key, just as it's been for years with the Canucks.

That said, I ***** about Gillis a lot but I'm still excited for Game 1. Go Canucks!

    haha

Good to see Vancouver open the season scoring!!

Textbook Sedin passing, perfect setup to Garrison who blasts in the first PP goal of the season. Finally they find the guy who waited all last year for his shot to be harnessed.

Too many penalties on the Canucks this game.

Awful penalties and turnovers cost us this one. I liked the offensive pressure most of the game, and Tanev and Garrison both looked great. Just lots of blunders.

Yeah I know. Tough for the team to improve on hustle and coaching alone. Same old problems again this year -- we can't score.

It's hard to watch these guys give so much effort for so little reward.

Luongo was stellar most of the night. Almost everyone was busting their *** ...

Weird to watch Hamuis, our most reliable defender, cough up the puck twice leading to the goals that sealed the game. Same old thing, our D is trying to compensate for our weak forwards and they get caught or break down and make mistakes. Luongo barely had a chance on two of the last goals.

I was going to say that I really liked what Tortorella was doing with the team. I have no idea how he is going to teach them to score though.

Offensive pressure, sure, but no finish. It's not a new story for us.

Yeah. We looked smarter in the offensive zone. Better than we looked most of last year. We just have to find ways to score.

    Any solutions?
