Yenier Bello may be a great JPA replacement

I haven't heard of this guy until now, but it sounds like he is just a little while away from being eligible to be signed as a free agent...

28, with plus defense and great power numbers...in Cuba.

We could sign him, improve that position, and relegate JPA to backup. That'd be awesome!

    Then we sign Tanaka.

Does anyone know about this player? Would he help us? Or would you guys like to pick up an already veteran MLB catcher, like Ruiz or Pierszynki from Texas?

Ruiz seems to me like a more secure option but im interested in these cuban guys too. Especially ones putting up similar power numbers to Jose Abreu over there.

Have you guys seen how well Yan Gomes has played this season?

Who would've thought we had a replacement in house?

hindsight is a beautiful thing. im sure you could go back to his last game played and look at the game thread, im sure you could see a few posts saying he'll never amount to anything. Gomes didnt mean anything to us, he was depth and a backup. And your thought of a replacement in house, keep in mind, when we traded Gomes, we still had Travis D'arnaud... which one did we think of as the catcher of the future...

    1.D'arnaud
    2.Arencibia
    3.Jimenez
    4.Gomes..

Yan Gomes is another Jose Bautista.. a career minor leaguer that just 'clicks'. Its all hindsight..

I want a catcher that has good defensive catcher with good communication with the pitchers. A catcher who can bring the best out of the starters. I dont care if he hits like Mauer if our pitchers suck when he catches.

Ruiz might be that guy. He's 34, and declining, but by most accounts he's a solid catcher defensively.

An important thing to consider with Bello is his grasp of the English language. At C you need to be able to communicate well. Picture Tanaka and Bello trying to work things out. Might be really interesting to watch actually. A pitcher and catcher communicating purely through eye contact and gestures.

Things will always work out in the end, but if you want them to turn out a certain way... You need to make it happen.

This is more pre-mature than me in grade 9.

I like McCann, but think he will be looking for longer term than AA would want to give out. Yanks are said to be very interested and won't be surprised he ends up there.

Also JPA doesn't work as backup C because he can't handle the Knuckler.

We should have kept Gomes, but hindsight is 20/20. I still think AA has won more trades than he's lost.
