D'Antoni Wisdom: Pau Gasol is a better post player than Dwight Howard

Yet he wants Gasol to live on the 3 point line.

I agree with D'Antoni. Pau Gasol is one of the best post players of all time, period.

That's not saying much, a lot of people on here are probably more skilled post players than dwight.

Good, now maybe he wants to explain why he had him last season camping at the 3p line?

Not only was the OP a troll post for D'Antoni haters, but your reply is troll post, too.

Everybody knows why Pau got moved out to the perimeter. He was forced to play out of position in order to cater to Howard so Howard would sign long term. It's also clear that was not D'Antoni's call, but the call of the organization itself. But you know that.

As for the OP, I agree that Pau is, was, always has been and probably always will be a better center than Howard. Howard can rebound and dunk. Over a season he can put up nice numbers. But in terms of playing the post he has no skillz, no game, no finesse, no ability to draw fouls and shoot free throws, and he's at least three inches shorter than he should be. As soon as his bounce start going he's going to be toast.

    He did

"But if you tell me right now who’d you rather post up, you want to post up Pau or you want to post up Dwight Howard and give him the ball? No (question). [Indicating Gasol] But if you want to re-sign somebody, who do you want? That’s where the problem was. It was clear who was the best post man. It’s nothing against Dwight. That’s the reality."

He had to try making Dwight happy because they wanted to re-sign him. That meant giving Dwight the ball in the post.

Simple Howard was the future and Mike job was to try and make him happy. Kind of like What phil was force to do with Bynum. In both cases if Bynum was healthy Pau would have been traded. If Howard had resigned Pau would have been traded. Those two players are younger and give the team hope in the future. Pau and Howard play two different styles but 95% of the teams will take Howard over Pau base on age and athletic ability. But to Pau credit he did beat Howard once in the finals he was the better post player then and he is the better post player now. Pau was shooting 3s last season because Mike is a small ball coach and was not sure how to play two big men. Howard plays best next to a shooter. I mean If you have Howard and Pau what do you do? He tried to bench Pau but he was unhappy. Right now Houston can play around with Howard at PF because he is locked in Mike could not do that.

just look at it this way Shaq was a monster in the paint and the older skilled Hakeem schooled him in the finals. But one player had more years to go. Its like going with harden over Kobe at this point.
