    Who Should Replace Jeremy Ross?

    Hyde: PR

    Franklin: KR

    If we go off roster..........

A little birdie told me we might be working the phones for a return specialist.

Here are those I believe that could be available and fill that role on other teams.

    (Limited to WRs)

    Tandon Doss

    Armanti Edwards

Chad Hall (my ****ing dog, if you saw him in college you'd understand)

Jerrel Jernigan (my favorite legit option)

Russell Sheppard (been on this guys nuts 2 years before the draft when he was not even playing, he was hot in camp for a while, just really raw at WR)

Sign Cribbs. He averaged 27.5 on 43 KO returns last year. thats still pretty productive. not to mention he could be an emergency receiver.

He also avgd 12 yards per punt return on 38 punt returns last year.

Hes 30 years old, so hes not ancient.

last year as a team we avgd 25 yards on KOs and 11 on punt returns...

^thats a video of some of his highlights for those unfamiliar. he never relied on his speed but rather his natural return instincts (some people just have them) and vision.
the packers have so much talent...

Anyway I would be fine I guess with Hyde if you guys think him and Franklin can handle those CRITICAL duties. I am just not all that comfortable leaving that to two rookies.

Packers worked out B.J. Hill a return specialist for the Green Bay Blizzard (IFL team) who has been working out with Don Beebe and according to Beebe he's the greatest athlete he's ever seen to not be given a chance.

They also worked out Orwin Smith a RB out of GA Tech

Does anyone know how much more susceptible to injury a returner is as opposed to just being a wr? I don't remember the last returner I saw get injured. A returner is almost directly in charge of how he gets hit as opposed to a wr who it at the mercy of the catch n hit. We all agree that Cobb is our most dynamic with the ball and gives us the best play making and decision making as a returner. That helps us win games, I believe in the philosophy of putting the best player on the field that gives us the best chance to win games. If that's Cobb, so be it. I don't have a problem with Cobb returning, Ross almost directly cost us two games, if Cobb was returning who knows?. I don't believe we should reduce our playmaking abilities to brace for an injury that may never come. That's just how I feel though, maybe a few of you agree? With that being said, if we can bring in a guy who is a return specialist, I'd be all for that too.

    Slim pickings...

I suggest bringing Devon Wylie in and seeing what he can do. He's had some punt returns for touchdowns... he looks good in the open field, shifty, speedy, etc. Looks very comfortable fielding punts.

Hill looks pretty awesome in the video. Very fast and he make some good cuts. But it's arena league, so I don't know how good the others are and if they are simply slow as hell. Also he looks pretty small.

    "He clocked a 4.35-second 40-yard dash in 2009."

Don Beebe said he's the best athlete he's ever seen not get a shot......FWIW.

Yeah I doubt he's THAT fast but it's hard to tell with stuff like that.

Don't think you have to be super fast to be returner. You need vision and you have to change the direction quickly and make good cuts and he seems to be able to do it. I would love to see some actual footage from college or something like that
