This is a big one for us tomorrow boys! We're all pretty thrilled on how the season has started and how the team is performing, but I bet we'll all be pretty down on ourselves if we're at 1-2 come 4pm tomorrow.
This game is a tale of opposites. Phillip Rivers looks rejuvenated in Mccoy's offense, he's getting the ball out quick and for a lot of yards. On defense however, they've been atrocious giving up 30+ in each game, good enough for the worst passing D in the league; well we have the worst pass offense in the league lol.
Good news for us in my opinion is that when I find a bad passing game goes up vs a bad pass D, I usually like the O to get the upper hand. Locker hasn't taken many risks (thanks to conservative play calling) but he's not an incompetent QB; off the mark at times but I expect him to expose the Chargers tmro. I'm hoping Locker has a Lions-esque game tomorrow.
We have to be careful on defense. Rivers gets the ball out quick and I expect them to counter our pressure with lots of screens and slants. We have to tackle well, short of the markers at that.
At the end of the day, I like our chances and consider us slight favorites. It's the home opener, the crowd should be rocking and the Chargers are travelling a long way for the second week in a row. I think our Defense will ruffle Rivers' feathers and Locker will expose their lackluster pass D.
Titans 23 Chargers 17 is my prediction. We've never beat the Chargers (not as the Titans at least) -- you'd have to go back to Mike Munchak's playing days in 1992 to see our last franchise victory over SD. Hopefully tomorrow we get the monkey off our back.
