St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Friday, September 20, 7:10 PM CDT, Miller Park
Shelby Miller, RHP
14-9, 3.01 ERA
Miller battled through efficiency issues to hold the Mariners to two runs -- one earned -- on three hits and two walks his last time out. He became the first Cardinals rookie to win 14 games since Dick Hughes in 1967.
Johnny Hellweg, RHP
1-4, 8.31 ERA
The rookie won Pitcher of the Year honors in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League, but he's having a hard time slowing things down in the Majors. He has walked 17 batters and struck five in his first 21 2/3 big league innings.
Saturday, September 21, 6:10 PM CDT, Miller Park
Lance Lynn, RHP
13-10, 4.18 ERA
Lynn relied on a well-placed fastball for his second straight quality start, but it still wasn't enough for his first win in eight starts. He allowed just two runs on six hits and a walk in 6 1/3 innings, striking out four, vs. the Rockies on Monday.
Yovani Gallardo, RHP
11-9, 4.29 ERA
Gallardo missed the series in St. Louis last week, but he draws his nemesis this time. Gallardo is 1-10 with a 6.78 ERA in 16 career regular-season starts against the Cardinals and also also fell to them in the 2011 NLCS.
Sunday, September 22, 7:05 PM CDT, Miller Park
Joe Kelly, RHP
9-4, 2.74 ERA
Though a sore right calf cut his night short, Joe Kelly was dominant in his first career appearance at Coors Field and picked up his sixth win in seven games. He allowed three hits over five shutout innings, walking two.
Wily Peralta, RHP
10-15, 4.34 ERA
The Brewers see progress from Peralta in containing his emotions. Against the Cubs on Monday, he avoided a blow-up inning after a series of defensive miscues, limiting the Cubs to an unearned run over six workman-like innings.
